Description ABOUT THIS ROLE We are looking for a Brand & Communications Manager to own how Xe shows up in earned media and creator culture. Xe is one of the most recognized and trusted names in currency, visited by millions of people every month. Far fewer of them know that we move money across borders for consumers and businesses. Your mandate is to close that gap using the two most credible voices available to us: independent creators, and the press.
You will build Xe's influencer and content creator program from the ground up, across both consumer and business audiences and across our priority markets. You will also own PR and communications end to end, from media relations and thought leadership to agency management and the messaging that keeps every external Xe voice consistent. You will own content strategy for Xe's brand, earned, social, and creator surfaces - the themes, formats, and stories that carry the brand - and create content yourself where speed matters. And you will own our reputation on the review platforms where customers make their final decision.
You will report to the Director of Brand and work alongside a Content Strategist and a Brand Designer, with freelance copy and creative support available when volume calls for it. You will partner closely with paid media, product marketing, lifecycle, and our regional marketing teams in EMEA, North America, and APAC. This is a builder's role: neither a creator program nor an in-house communications function exists at Xe today. You will create both, for a brand with a genuinely differentiated story and a large existing audience to convert.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES - Build and own Xe's global influencer and content creator strategy from the ground up: which audiences and platforms to play in, which markets to prioritize, what we want people to believe about Xe, and how creator content contributes measurably to awareness and acquisition
- Source, vet, negotiate, and manage the creator roster end to end, including rates, deliverables, usage rights, exclusivity, and renewal decisions, across consumer communities such as travel, expat, and personal finance and business communities such as SME finance, accounting, and founders
- Write creator briefs that hold the brand line while letting creators sound like themselves, and build a repeatable brief, produce, publish, amplify, and measure cycle rather than a series of one-off activations
- Own content strategy across Xe's brand, earned, social, and creator surfaces: the narrative themes, formats, and channels that build awareness, and the standard for what good brand content looks like
- Create content directly when speed matters, using AI tools to draft, adapt, and produce at pace, and partner closely with the Content Strategist, who owns the content hub, corridor guides, and SEO content, so brand and organic content ladder to one voice
- Own PR and earned media strategy end to end, including agency selection and management, media relations, press moments tied to product launches and campaigns, executive visibility, and rapid response
- Build direct relationships with the journalists who cover payments, fintech, and corporate finance, and with consumer personal finance and travel media, growing Xe's share of voice in the cross-border payments conversation
- Develop a thought leadership platform of bylines, expert commentary, and data-led stories drawn from Xe's currency data, one of the most underused earned media assets we have
- Build the messaging framework, spokesperson bench, and Q&A that keep every external Xe voice consistent, and prepare and coach spokespeople for media, podcast, and speaking opportunities
- Own Xe's reputation and rating trajectory across consumer review platforms and business software review sites, partnering with lifecycle marketing on review generation and building a response process that is fast, human, and consistent
- Support the Director of Brand on integrated brand awareness campaigns across channels such as video, social, audio, and out-of-home, owning the earned, organic, and creator layers so paid investment is amplified rather than isolated
- Partner with paid media to whitelist and amplify high-performing creator content, and with the regional marketing managers in EMEA, North America, and APAC on local creator selection, local press, and in-market activation
- Own disclosure and compliance across every partnership and external communication, working with legal and compliance so creator content and press activity meet advertising and financial promotions standards
- Report on creator and earned media performance to the same standard as any paid channel, covering awareness, share of voice, coverage quality, and contribution to registrations and first transactions
POSITION REQUIREMENTS - 5+ years of experience in influencer or creator marketing, communications, PR, or brand marketing, ideally in fintech, payments, consumer tech, or another regulated, high-velocity business
- Deep ownership of at least one of creator programs or media relations, with hands-on working experience of the other; this role needs someone who can genuinely do both, not someone who has only briefed agencies to do them
- Proven experience building something from nothing: a creator program stood up from scratch, a communications function brought in-house, or a reputation program created where none existed
- A working press contact book across fintech, payments, personal finance, business, or travel and lifestyle media, and the instincts to know which story belongs where
- Experienced marketing to both consumer and business audiences, or a clear grasp of how differently they discover, evaluate, and buy
- An excellent writer who moves comfortably between press releases, bylines, creator briefs, and spokesperson Q&A
- A strong content instinct across formats - social, short-form video, long-form, and editorial - and as comfortable making content as directing it
- Analytically confident: you can build the business case for a creator partnership, measure what it returned, and end it when the numbers don't hold up
- Comfortable in a regulated environment where disclosure rules, claims substantiation, and compliance review are part of the craft rather than an obstacle
- Good instincts for platform culture and what earns attention without paid support, paired with the judgment to protect a brand people already trust
- Experienced managing agencies, freelancers, and external partners to deliver agency-quality output with in-house speed and accountability
- Comfortable in a builder environment: setting up frameworks, processes, and measurement that don't exist yet, and shipping work while you build
- Fluent with AI tools for research, drafting, and content production, and able to use them to get publishable work out quickly without losing brand voice
- Experience across multiple international markets, particularly the US, UK, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, is a plus
- Experience in cross-border payments, FX, remittances, or financial services is a plus
