The Bookkeeper/Accountant is responsible for managing the company's accounts receivable processes, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close activities, performing account reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This role plays a critical part in maintaining financial accuracy, cash flow management, and supporting the overall financial operations of the organization.
This position is 'in office' in Sunnyvale, CA (M-F)
Salary Range: $105,000 - $126,000 annual
Accounts Receivable Management- Generate and distribute customer invoices accurately and timely.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Process customer payments, credit memos, and account adjustments.
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and customer inquiries.
- Maintain detailed records of collection activities and payment histories.
Bookkeeping & Financial Administration- Prepare and enter financial transactions into QuickBooks.
- Maintain accurate general ledger records and supporting documentation.
- Process journal entries and account adjustments as necessary.
- Assist with accounts payable activities when required.
- Maintain organized financial records in accordance with company policies.
Reconciliations & Financial Reporting- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and account reconciliations.
- Reconcile customer accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Prepare recurring financial reports and supporting schedules.
- Assist with cash flow reporting and financial analysis.
- Support management with ad hoc reporting requests.
Month-End Close & Compliance- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Assist in preparation of financial statements and management reports.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Support internal and external audits as required.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory reporting requirements and tax documentation.
Process Improvement- Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows and efficiencies.
- Recommend process improvements to strengthen internal controls.
- Support implementation of accounting and financial system enhancements.
What Is Required- Must be eligible for employment within the United States.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening. (Surefox will consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with all requirements of State and local laws, regulations or codes)
- Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive bookkeeping, accounts receivable, or accounting experience.
- Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks.
- Extensive experience preparing and posting accounting transactions.
- Strong experience performing bank reconciliations and account reconciliations.
- Experience processing payroll and payroll-related reporting.
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience supporting month-end and year-end close activities.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting requirements.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
What Is Desired- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Experience in service-based or security industry organizations.
- Experience supporting multi-state payroll operations.
- Knowledge of accounting controls and audit procedures.
- Experience with financial forecasting and budgeting support.
- Familiarity with ERP and financial management systems.
- Professional bookkeeping or accounting certification preferred.
