Job Title: Practice Director Department: BMS Administration

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer, BMS FLSA Status: Exempt (Salary)

Job Summary:

The Practice Director has oversight to ensure the effective & efficient daily operations of assigned Bloomington Medical Services (BMS) offices. Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Director will work with assigned Practice Managers to ensure the quality and financial viability of healthcare services to Bloomington Medical Services patients.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Human Resources
  • In collaboration with the Human Resources Department, recruits and onboards new employees.

  • Ensures that enough qualified and competent staff are scheduled to provide necessary physical therapy services and coverage.

  • Conducts performance reviews and manages payroll for assigned employees.
  • Ensures compliance with labor laws and maintain employee records.

Operations & Compliance
  • Maintain office equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, CMS, and other regulatory standards.
  • Oversee onboarding of providers in assigned practices.
  • Implement quality assurance and improvement programs.

  • Provides clinical oversight for BMS's ancillary services, including physical therapy, ensuring such services are provided according to recognized and prevailing standards of care, without discrimination because of race, national origin, gender, religion, handicap, or payer source.
  • Remains current in applicable legal, regulatory, licensure, certification, and accreditation requirements and assist BMS in complying with Medicare Conditions of Participation, licensure and certification requirements, and other compliance and accreditation requirements.


  • Assists in developing policies, procedures, protocols, and best practices, including those intended to promote accurate coding.


  • Participates in quality assessments, corrective action, and peer review functions.


Patient Experience
  • Monitors patient satisfaction and resolve complaints.
  • Optimizes scheduling and workflow for efficiency.
  • Supports initiatives for care quality improvement.

Strategic Leadership
  • Assists with the development and implementation of operational policies.
  • Collaborates with leadership to align operations with organizational goals.
  • Leads projects assigned by the Chief Operating Officer.
  • Recommends improvements for the physical therapy program's design and operation, including:

  • Improving efficiencies and clinical outcomes.


  • Offering and expanding physical therapy services.


  • Recommending effective staffing levels and use of BMS personnel.


  • Participating in initiatives to promote physician and patient satisfaction, including Press Ganey (or comparable) patient satisfaction and BMS's complaint resolution process, which will receive and timely investigate and address complaints, take appropriate action (if warranted), and communicate disposition to the complainant.


  • Assists in developing policies, procedures, protocols, and best practices, including those intended to promote accurate coding.


  • Participates in quality assessments, corrective action, and peer review functions.

Education and Experience:

Minimum Education Experience Requirement:

Bachelor's degree in healthcare related field, or business management required-experience considered in lieu of degree.

Master's degree in a healthcare-related field, or business management preferred.

Minimum Experience Requirement:

Three years' experience in medical office supervision and operational duties.

Proficient in physician office budgeting, billing, and collections.
