Overview

This position will support Bio-Rad's new extrusion blow molding operation in Hercules, CA. The primary responsibilities include blow molding machine setup and operation, mold changeovers, process troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair of blow molding machines and ancillary equipment. The role will work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to support startup activities, process development, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives. Candidates should possess strong mechanical and technical troubleshooting skills, experience working with manufacturing equipment, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced production environment.  

How You’ll Make An Impact: 

  • Lead the startup and ongoing support of Bio-Rad's new extrusion blow molding operation, helping establish manufacturing capability for critical products while driving operational readiness and long-term success. 
  • Perform mold installations, changeovers, and process troubleshooting to optimize production performance, improve product quality, and minimize downtime. 
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain blow molding machines and ancillary equipment, including material handling systems, dryers, chillers, leak testers, and automation equipment, ensuring reliable manufacturing operations. 
  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to support equipment commissioning, process validation, continuous improvement initiatives, and new product introductions. 
  • Train operators and develop technical expertise within the organization, helping build a sustainable and efficient manufacturing operation through knowledge sharing, problem solving, and best practice implementation.     

What You Bring: 

  • Education: Associate's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience. 
  • Work Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience operating, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing industrial manufacturing equipment in a production environment. 
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated experience troubleshooting hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and control systems. 
  • Experience performing equipment setups, mold changeovers, preventive maintenance, and root cause analysis to improve equipment reliability and production performance. 
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, operating manuals, and technical documentation while working effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional manufacturing environment.  

Location: This position must be based in Hercules, CA and requires the employee to be located within commuting distance of the office.

Compensation: The estimated hourly range for this position is $38.75 to $53.27 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
