Full Job Description
We are seeking a motivated Bioinformatics Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will support ongoing research efforts by modifying, operating, and maintaining data analysis pipelines under the guidance of senior analysts and scientists. This role will contribute to generating high-quality analysis results, preparing project reports, and performing custom analyses as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate data for quality assurance and mine relevant (e.g., bioinformatics, biomedical, cheminformatics) databases.
  • Perform basic analysis, algorithm implementation, programming, and quality check on data to be loaded into biomedical database.
  • Assist in adopting new and improved tools and web-based applications.
  • Assist in the evaluation of products and solutions pertaining to St. Jude's technology needs, in maintaining databases or data warehouse and project reports.
  • Work with stakeholder s(e.g., HPFC, IS, vendors) to ensure tools are up to date and maintain databases.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

  • Perform custom analyses based on project requirements.
  • Curate and manage databases to ensure data integrity and accessibility.

Minimum Education and/or Training:
  • Bachelor's degree in bioinformatics, statistics/computer science (with a background in biological sciences) or related field.
  • Master's degree with no previous experience.


Minimum Experience:
  • Minimum Requirement: 2+ years of relevant experience required.
  • Experience Exception: Master's degree and no experience.
  • Experience in at least one programming or scripting language and at least one statistical package, with R preferred.


Candidates should have prior experience in at least one of the following focus areas:

Genomics / Single-Cell Analysis
  • Single-cell data analysis
  • Bash scripting, R, and Python
  • Linux environments
  • Database curation and management
  • Conda environments and Nextflow


Image-Based Analysis
  • Image data analysis, including ML/AI applications
  • SQL and database curation
  • Bash scripting and Python
  • Linux environments
  • Conda environments

Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $65,520 - $114,400 per year for the role of Bioinformatics Analyst.
