Overview

Shimmick, through our subsidiary, Axia Electric, is seeking a highly talented BIM Manager with data center experience to oversee digital modeling, coordination, and clash detection for complex, mission-critical construction projects.

 

This challenging position offers an excellent growth opportunity supporting the delivery of sophisticated data center projects. You will play a key role in project success by leading BIM coordination efforts, driving clash detection and resolution, and ensuring high-quality digital project delivery from design through construction.

 

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Team Leadership: Direct, mentor, and schedule daily tasks for a team of BIM coordinators and modelers.
  • BIM Execution: Establish, implement, and enforce project-specific BIM Execution Plans (BxP) and modeling standards.
  • Clash Resolution: Lead multi-discipline coordination meetings to identify and resolve spatial conflicts between structural and hyper-complex MEP systems.
  • Mission-Critical Focus: Ensure precise modeling of data center infrastructure, including containment systems, high-density cable trays, cooling pathways, and backup generators.
  • Model QA/QC: Audit models regularly to guarantee data integrity, proper naming conventions, and compliance with strict LOD (Level of Development) 350/400 requirements.
  • Cross-Functional Liaison: Collaborate directly with project managers, field superintendents, design engineers, and client stakeholders to resolve technical challenges.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree + 6 years of relevant BIM/VDC experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Strong understanding of heavy industrial MEP systems, including chilled water loops, medium-voltage distribution, and structural layouts.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites and client locations as required

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience dedicated specifically to data centers or complex mission-critical facilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Navisworks Manage, and Autodesk Construction Cloud (BIM 360).
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills required to run high-stakes coordination meetings and drive accountability.

The salary range for this position is between $120,000 to $175,000 depending on experience and/or education.
