Job Duties and Preferred Qualifications:

The City of Virginia Beach Department of Human Services is seeking to hire a highly motivated candidate for the BH Supervisor I position who has experience providing counseling services in an outpatient setting to children and adolescents including substance abuse treatment and Administrative or supervisory experience in a public mental health setting for the Child and Youth services program in the Behavioral Health Division.

• Assist the Program Manager in the development, evaluation and direction of behavioral health services programs for the community to meet client needs and state certification standards.
• Provide and monitor behavioral health or consultation, education and treatment services to relevant agencies and populations for beneficial community impact.
• Manage and develop the financial resources of the program through the maintenance of effective intra and inter agency program collaboration for maximum utilization of the available resources.
• Manage and develop the staffing resources of the program to meet client needs.
• Supervise and coordinate the High-Fidelity Wrap/Intensive Care Coordination Program, Juvenile Restoration services and Juvenile Detention Outpatient and Case Management.
• Assign cases and oversee intake assessments, reassessments.
• Oversee the compilation of FAPT packets/cases for presentation before the FAPT team and/or CIF team as means to obtain funding for non-Medicaid clients or non-Medicaid services.
• Provide coordination of services with other providers, crisis intervention as appropriate, and linkage with other resources.
• Ensure documentation of services meet state licensure and CARF requirements.
• Provide accurate clinical documentation within the time frame required and assures that billing is submitted in a timely manner.
• Assure quality of clinical services from clinicians, along with proper documentation according to agency standards and productivity according to unit standards.

The Ideal candidate would have supervisory or clinical supervisory experience, as well as child psychopathology, treatment modalities including cognitive, behavioral, supportive, especially as they relate to treatment of youth in a behavioral, mental health setting.

Preferences:

• Supervisory experience in a public mental health setting
• Registered as a clinical supervisor with the Virginia Board of Counseling/Social Work
• Experience providing targeted case management
• Experience accessing and collaborating with community resources such as: DSS, DJJ, community-based resources, out-of-home care, etc.
• Experience with treatment modalities including cognitive, behavioral, or supportive, especially as they relate to treatment of youth.
• Experience with the juvenile justice system and/or experience in providing services to court involved youth
• Experience with the CSA/FAPT process

Minimum Requirements:

Minimums: Requires a Bachelor's degree in a human services field (such as psychology, behavioral or mental health, special education, social work) and seven (7) years of behavioral health experience associated with such positions as senior clinician or educator OR a combination of education and/or experience equivalent to eleven (11) years associated with such positions as senior clinician or educator. Must have, or obtain, a current and valid DMV driver's license.

Special Requirements: Must be registered with the Virginia Board of Counseling with a current license as a LPC, LCSW, or LCP with experience working with children and adolescents. All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
