What We're Looking For:
Michael Baker International is seeking a Benefits Analyst to support the administration, compliance, and continuous improvement of our health, welfare, and wellness programs. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys benefits administration, employee support, data analysis, compliance, and process improvement.
The successful candidate will partner with employees, HR Business Partners, leadership, vendors, and third-party administrators to deliver competitive and compliant benefits programs that support our employees and organizational goals.
What You'll Do:
Health & Welfare Administration
• Analyze benefits trends, legislation, and industry best practices and recommend program enhancements and compliance updates.
• Participate in industry surveys, benchmark current programs, and provide recommendations to maintain market competitiveness.
• Identify opportunities to improve benefits administration processes and increase efficiency.
• Administer Short-Term Disability (STD), Long-Term Disability (LTD), and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) programs.
• Communicate eligibility requirements and provide appropriate leave and benefits documentation to employees.
• Partner with employees and managers throughout the leave-of-absence process, ensuring compliance and a positive employee experience.
• Manage employee time submissions and reporting during approved leaves.
• Assist with the planning and execution of annual Open Enrollment.
• Help ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations governing employee benefit plans.
Wellness Coordination
• Partner in developing wellness initiatives that align with Michael Baker International's culture, goals, and employee well-being strategy.
• Assist with managing relationships with wellness vendors and external partners.
• Support wellness-related projects and employee engagement initiatives.
Administration
• Create, track, and report on monthly performance metrics for benefits and wellness programs.
• Process vendor invoices.
• Serve as a point of contact for employee and HR Business Partner benefits inquiries.
• Conduct weekly benefits orientation sessions for eligible new hires.
What You Need to Succeed:
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in benefits administration, human resources, or a related field.
• Knowledge of employee health and welfare benefit programs and wellness initiatives.
• Understanding of ERISA, FMLA, COBRA, ACA, and other applicable benefits regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver quality work within established deadlines.
• Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively with employees, leadership, vendors, and third-party administrators.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexible and resourceful with a proven ability to identify and resolve issues.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with Oracle ERP or a similar HRIS system preferred.
• International or expatriate benefits experience is a plus but not required.
Compensation:
The approximate compensation range for this position is $80,000 - $90,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
