Behavioral Health Manager - Adult Inpatient

Salary Scale: $99,070.40 - $148,616.00

Dominion Hospital, the only freestanding mental health facility in Northern VA, is seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Manager - Adult Inpatient to help lead our Eating Disorder Unit. The Behavioral Health Manager - Adult Inpatient reports to the Director of the unit, and serves in management of clinical needs within adult inpatient services. The Behavioral Health Manager - Adult Inpatient will play a central role in management of clinical services and on-site support of staff. The Behavioral Health Manager - Adult Inpatient duties will include leadership and modeling for all clinical staff on best clinical practices and within organizational policy & referral development and community education activities to increase growth and ensure success of the program. Some weekend coverage my be required as needed.

What You'll Do
  • Develop an effective plan for delivery of care within the assigned area.
  • Collaborates with all members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Coordinates daily schedule.
  • Implements evidence based practices into unit programming.
  • Serves as a resource for all members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Serves as initial point of contact for patient and staff crises.
  • Role models the use of recovery and trauma informed care principles to manage psychiatric emergencies.
  • Conducts groups as appropriate.
  • Responsible for constituting the treatment team and for conducting or designating for conduct of treatment planning.
  • Develops an internal QA program to maintain high quality patient care
  • Makes rounds regularly to ensure that patient care program functions are appropriate and that patient needs are being met.
  • Develops procedures for evaluating the effectiveness of the program's treatment process to assure the program goals and objectives, patient needs and compliance with all applicable quality standards as well as federal, state and local licensure requirements, codes and regulations are being met.
  • Ensures and participates in referral development and community education activities are appropriate and ensures the success of the program
  • Consults with patient and patient families, as necessary, for purpose of solving complaints dealing with patient care
  • Participates in the planning and providing of staff development and in-service training programs for unit staff and supervises the overall unit staff education process.
  • Assures all treatment measures comply with HBIPS, Joint Commission, and CMS standards.
  • Demonstrate organizational skills that provide a safe and therapeutic milieu.
  • Act as an effective leader, patient advocate and role model.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately and creates flexibility in the schedule to accommodate change.
  • Utilizes appropriate individual and group interventions within milieu for behavioral management of patients.
  • Makes recommendations, provides opportunities for growth and development of staff, and arranges for appropriate education and training.
  • Creates and maintains a supportive work environment for all staff and patients.
  • Complete and submit incident reports, and Code BERT
  • Take initiative to solve problems and recommend improvements.
  • Perform accurate patient assessments on admission daily.
  • Receives positive physician feedback.
  • Actively participates in treatment planning process and updates treatment plan as needed per policy.
  • Promotes a level of professionalism in dealing with customers, staff and other clinicians.
  • Receives positive customer satisfaction surveys.
  • Enforces all hospital policies and procedures.
  • Address staffing issues effectively. Escalate to the Director as appropriate.
  • Plans and utilizes a collaborative interdepartmental approach in managing patient care.
  • Communicates information to appropriate Administrator on call.
  • PHP/ IOP charge reconciliation

Qualifications

Education: Master of Social Work/ Masters of Mental Health Counseling.

Licensure: Current Licensure as LCSW and LPC in Commonwealth of Virginia or Compact State

Certifications: CPR-BLS for healthcare providers and Crisis Prevention Interventions (CPI) required as a part of the general hospital orientation.

Clinical Experience: 3 plus years of clinical experience specifically in a Behavioral Health environment.

Management Experience: 2 plus years of management in a clinical setting highly desirable
