LOCATION: Rochester ALC
WORK SCHEDULE:- School Year: Negotiable depending on the school bell-times and center schedule, but must align approved objectives (job-sharing is possible)
- Summer: To be assigned (job-sharing is possible)
REPORTS TO: Rochester ALC Principal, Tim Limberg
SALARY: $50/hour for licensed staff, $40/hour for non-licensed staff
JOB SUMMARY:The Center Director is responsible for a broad program of out-of-school time opportunities to include academic enrichment, literacy education, healthy and active lifestyles, and well-rounded educational activities, offered to interested students. The program will run from September 2026 through May 2027, for a minimum of 300 hours, and in summer, for a minimum of 120 hours over 6 weeks.
The Center Director will oversee the creation and delivery of this program through the submission of an annual work plan, foster youth voice in design and delivery, maintain and submit data on participation and outcomes, participate in quality assessments, and provide insight into program improvement.
Communication and coordinated planning between the Center Director, school-day staff, and leaders in other out-of-school time programs at the school will be critical to align these programs and achieve the best outcomes for students.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:- Implements the school year workplan as submitted to and approved by MDE.
- Plans collaboratively with students, families, principal, school-day and out-of-school time staff, and community partners for program structure, content, evaluation, and overall management
- Works with students, families, and program staff to identify learning objectives and develop appropriate learning experiences in academics, enrichment, wellness, and other areas of personal development
- Works with adults and students to create a safe and welcoming out-of-school time environment
- Establishes clear and open channels of communication with all stakeholders
- Works with students, families, and staff to develop and offer opportunities for literacy and other engagement opportunities for the families of participating students
- Identify, recruit, and supervise staff in the out-of-school time program
- Identifies and recruits students to out-of-school time programs, with input from school-day staff
- Works with partner organizations identified in the grant to provide services that support student learning, e.g., in high-dose, high-impact tutoring, in American Indian Education, and with ACHLA (supporting Hispanic students).
- Works with staff to monitor school day performance of participating students, and adjusts out-of-school time programming to meet the needs of students
- Manage student behaviors during out-of-school time and communicate with the principal about behavioral and other issues that affect the school day
- Supervises the input, monitoring, and reporting of student attendance and other data using required tools (e.g., Arux, Qmulativ)
- Completes required MDE workplans, reports, and surveys for reporting purposes.
- Ensures the timely and accurate submission of program staff timesheets for payroll purposes.
- Coordinates and supervises student use of district facilities, equipment, and school van transportation
- Participates in mandatory training, MDE webinars, and professional development as appropriate through the National Technical Assistance Center (NTAC) website, Ignite Afterschool PDX (M3 and Youth Development)
- Ensure program staff are familiar with the aims and objectives of the out-of-school time program by taking the appropriate training module(s) on the National Technical Assistance Center (NTAC) website.
- Participates in the annual M3 data huddle
- Abides by all Federal and District rules, regulations, and practices as they relate to the implementation of the out-of-school time program and appropriate use of funds.
QUALIFICATIONS:- Should have a school-day assignment in the program's location
- Demonstrated abilities in collaboration, program planning, and coordination
- Experience working with youth
- MN Teaching License preferred, but not essential
- Knowledge of continuous program improvement processes and program quality assessments is helpful, but training is provided
- Familiarity with District accounting, purchasing, and other related regulations and practices.
