Position Summary
The BAS (Building Automation Systems) Design Engineer - Submittals is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing control systems for energy management applications. This role ensures that all design activities align with the latest construction documents before installation, and coordinates closely with multiple stakeholders across the project lifecycle.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure all design work is aligned with the most recent conformed construction documents before installation.
- Select instrumentation, sensors, valves, and actuators based on application requirements.
- Size and select components to meet operational needs.
- Modify and update design drawings and maintain "as-built" documentation.
- Understand and document HVAC sequences of operation.
- Identify and gather main actions from use cases, clarify settings/parameters, and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain company design standards and procedures, coordinating with engineering leadership.
- Communicate with MEP engineers, contractors, equipment manufacturers, project managers, field technicians, and sales representatives.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Three years of relevant Desing Engineer Experience required
- Strong technical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with computers, phones, and office equipment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage projects from development through implementation and evaluation.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications and Visio.
- Knowledge of building automation systems, HVAC systems, building construction, and contracting.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times

Working Conditions
Must have the ability to perform the duties above in a non-controlled environment. This will include climbing ladders, working on ladders and elevated surfaces, maintain in good working conditions, tools, materials, and equipment required to your work area. Working exposed to the elements during (when required) at all times of the year. All employees are required to always wear PPE and always follow Safety procedures.
