Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced AWS Infrastructure Administrator to manage, maintain, secure, and optimize enterprise AWS infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day administration and operational support of AWS environments, ensuring high availability, performance, security, and reliability.
This role is highly operations-focused and requires hands-on experience managing AWS infrastructure, monitoring cloud environments, troubleshooting production issues, implementing security and access controls, performing maintenance activities, and supporting automation and Infrastructure as Code initiatives. The ideal candidate is proactive, analytical, and comfortable working in a production environment while collaborating with infrastructure, engineering, security, and application teams.
Key Responsibilities- Administer and maintain enterprise AWS infrastructure, ensuring availability, performance, reliability, and operational stability.
- Provision, configure, manage, and troubleshoot AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, FSx, EBS, IAM, Route 53, CloudWatch, and Systems Manager.
- Monitor AWS environments, respond to alerts, troubleshoot incidents, and perform root cause analysis and remediation.
- Manage AWS identity and access controls, including IAM users, roles, policies, security groups, and permissions.
- Administer AWS networking components including VPCs, subnets, route tables, NAT Gateways, VPNs, Direct Connect, and Elastic Load Balancing.
- Support AWS Organizations and enterprise multi-account environments.
- Perform operating system and infrastructure patching, configuration management, maintenance, and lifecycle activities.
- Support backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and business continuity activities for AWS workloads.
- Assist with Infrastructure as Code deployments and environment management using Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation.
- Develop and maintain operational automation using PowerShell, Bash, and/or Python.
- Monitor infrastructure health, capacity, utilization, and performance, and identify opportunities for optimization.
- Support AWS cost optimization and resource utilization initiatives.
- Implement and maintain AWS security and operational best practices in accordance with enterprise policies and standards.
- Maintain accurate infrastructure documentation, configuration records, procedures, and operational runbooks.
- Collaborate with engineering, security, network, application, and infrastructure teams to support application deployments and ongoing operations.
- Participate in production incident management, problem management, and change management processes.
- Participate in on-call support and provide timely response to critical infrastructure incidents as required.
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4+ years of IT infrastructure experience, including at least 3 years of hands-on AWS administration experience.
- Strong infrastructure operations and production support background.
- Hands-on experience administering AWS core services, including EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, CloudWatch, Route 53, EBS, and VPC.
- Strong understanding of AWS networking, including VPCs, subnets, route tables, security groups, NACLs, VPNs, Direct Connect, and load balancers.
- Experience supporting AWS Organizations and multi-account enterprise environments.
- Working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
- Experience with AWS monitoring, logging, alerting, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Knowledge of AWS security, identity and access management, and cloud governance best practices.
- Experience supporting production environments and resolving infrastructure incidents.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with geographically distributed technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications- AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate certification.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional.
- Experience with automation and scripting using PowerShell, Bash, and/or Python.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Experience with enterprise monitoring, logging, and observability tools.
- Experience with AWS cost management, resource optimization, and FinOps practices.
- Knowledge of Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Experience supporting large-scale, highly available AWS production environments.
- Experience with ITIL-based incident, problem, change, and service management processes.
Work Environment- Work Schedule: 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM EST.
- Location: United States — remote/home-based.
- Candidates may be located anywhere within the United States, with a preference for candidates located in the Western U.S.
- Participation in on-call support and occasional after-hours maintenance or incident response may be required.
Compensation at DXC is influenced by an array of factors, including but not limited to the experience, job-related knowledge, skills, competencies, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. A reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position is $66,700 - $123,900.
