Responsibilities

Peraton is looking to hire a Database Administrator in the Washington DC Metro area.  This role will be a remote position.   At times the role will also require travel to the Quantico client site when necessary.

 

What you'll do:

  • Develop and implement data ingestion solutions using AWS database and cloud-native technologies.
  • Design, administer, and optimize relational and NoSQL database environments, including Amazon RDS (PostgreSQL, Oracle), Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon Redshift, Amazon Athena, and Amazon S3.
  • Utilize AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) to migrate, replicate, and modernize database environments.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend AWS data storage architectures and database technologies to support business and technical requirements.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and automate database solutions, including infrastructure and database build processes.
  • Develop automation and administrative scripts using Python and/or Bash.
  • Monitor database usage, performance, and capacity; conduct performance tuning and provide recommendations for system optimization.
  • Design and implement indexing strategies, replication, backup, and disaster recovery solutions across multiple AWS Regions.
  • Develop, test, implement, and maintain SQL code, stored procedures, database applications, and other database objects.
  • Design scalable, secure, and resilient data models supporting transactional, analytical, and hybrid workloads.
  • Design, build, and support cloud-based Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, and modern enterprise data platforms.
  • Lead the design and implementation of modern database architectures that support cloud migration and application modernization initiatives.
  • Maintain database security, access controls, and data integrity to protect organizational information assets.
  • Develop and enforce database administration policies, standards, procedures, and governance practices.

Qualifications

What you need:

  • Education:  8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD or 12 years of experience in lieu of a degree
  • Clearance:  Active Top Secret security clearance 
  • Certification:  Current CompTIA Security+ or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification required.
  • Experience working in Agile software development environments.
  • Experience with DevSecOps tools and practices, including GitLab, Artifactory, and SonarQube.
  • Expert-level proficiency in SQL and experience administering relational and NoSQL database management systems.
  • Strong understanding of database design, performance tuning, security, backup and recovery, and high-availability architectures.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams.
  • This person must be local to the Washington DC Metro area

 

Target Salary Range$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
