What You'll Do

Requiring a combination of strategic thinking, operational expertise, and the ability to adapt to evolving security challenges, this position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive security to protect the organization's employees, assets, information, and reputation within a financial institution setting. This role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, risk management, and crisis response skills to mitigate security threats and to ensure the safety and resiliency of the organization. This position collaborates with stakeholders, business leaders and subject matter experts to provide direction, insight, and expertise to ensure quality security processes for risk management, threat assessment, pre- and post-incident response, and physical safety. Responsible for the protection of people, assets, and property of the credit union.

Core Contributions

  • Strategic Security Leadership: Develop and execute a enterprise-wide strategic security vision, mission, and goals aligned with the organization's overall growth objectives. As subject matter expert, provide guidance to the executive leadership team on security risks and solutions. Administer and oversee compliance with Bank Protection Act of 1968, Title 12 CFR VII NCUA. and state & local laws / regulations. Prepare and submit a security program evaluation and compliance report to the senior leadership, as applicable.
  • Design and implement strategies to prepare for security emergency response to include recovery, evacuation, workplace violence, and other emergency or adverse events as a key component of the company's business continuity team. Liaise with FourLeaf's business continuity planning department, consultants, local law enforcement and government agencies as necessary and appropriate related to such matters. Participate in tabletop exercises to identify gaps, identify roles and strengthen the overall security response plan and review associated response procedures through guided discussion of one or more emergency scenarios.
  • Threat Assessment and Risk Management: Identify, assess, and monitor physical security threats and vulnerabilities to proactively mitigate risks. Implement risk management strategies to protect the organization's assets and reputation.
  • Security Operations: Oversee, mentor, and develop a high-performing security team, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and capabilities. Responsibilities include physical security, access control, CCTV, alarms and Security Operations Center. Develop and maintain security incident response plans.
  • Promote a culture of security consciousness throughout the organization. Develop security training programs in collaboration with Learning & Development, involving front office and visitor security, security guard force and specialized training programs for managers, special employees and field employees.
  • Conduct internal and external investigations as required; facilitating post-incident inquiries, root cause analysis, for incidents as directed. Responds to banking emergencies during and after hours as required. Develop and implement corrective action, make recommendations and follow up to prevent the possibility of recurrence.
  • Security Technology: Evaluate, select, and implement enhanced technologies and services to optimize business investments. Direct the management of technology and third-party contracts for guard and security technology resources for all business locations by leveraging "existing" procurement strategies that maximize economies of scale, standardized procedures, and strategic supplier relationships.
  • Responsible for the creation and management of budget that facilitates regulatory compliance, life safety, and asset protection to support organizational readiness. ($2 million).


Assets You Will Bring

  • College degree in security management disciplines or related law enforcement experience. Field of Study: Security, risk management, business, or criminal justice-related fields.
  • 15+ years of leadership experience managing security operations and/or law enforcement matters for a large financial corporation, governmental entity or organization or commensurate work experience specifically in law enforcement or security services.
  • Former law enforcement experience, preferred.
  • Highly-developed leadership, management, investigation and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to initiate and manage projects that will affect other departments and functions, as well as the corporate environment.
  • Broad knowledge of legal operational procedures and various departmental policies as it relates to the credit union.
  • Knowledge of security alarm and video systems.
  • Knowledge of bank and branch office operations.
  • Certifications: CPP, PSP, CEM, or CFE. Incident Command certifications a plus.


The estimated salary for this role is $117,456.00 to $146,819.00 annually. In addition to the salary or hourly rate listed above there may be other compensation & benefits available.
