Full Job Description
Position Overview

Reporting to the Chief Technical Claim Officer (CTCO), this role is a collaboratory leader of the strategy and resolution of the organization's most complex, high-exposure claim matters-spanning sophisticated complex disputes, multi-district litigation, class actions, declaratory judgment actions, and suits against the Company.

You will be a visible advisor to senior leadership and a go-to technical resource for the broader claims organization-driving outcomes, and elevating best practices across lines including General Liability, Business Auto, Excess/Umbrella, Inland Marine, and Professional Liability (including Programs and Middle Markets).

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end strategy for complex coverage issues and litigation matters, including investigation, exposure assessment, reserve adequacy, and resolution planning.
  • Drive litigation management in complex settlements.
  • Prepare executive-level reporting and lead discussions with senior leadership, customers, and key stakeholders on high-profile matters, trends, and emerging case law.
  • Serve as a technical leader-staying current on insurance claim trends, commercial insurance laws, and regulations and ensuring alignment with company guidelines and fair claim practices.
  • Lead and contribute to cross-functional initiatives sponsored by the CTCO/Chief Claims Officer to strengthen complex-claims capability and operating discipline.
  • Partner with Claims, Underwriting, Legal, and the broader Technical Claims Office to align priorities, deliverables, and decision frameworks.


Qualifications (What You Bring)
  • J.D. required.
  • 10+ years of experience as an attorney and/or claims professional with deep expertise in complex coverage issues, high-exposure claims, and coverage litigation.
  • Proven ability to partner with and influence claim executives and senior stakeholders.
  • Ease of operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment with sound judgment and strong prioritization.
  • Executive-level communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills across insureds, brokers, counsel, and internal business partners.
  • Strong analytical skills-able to synthesize complex facts and present crisp recommendations.
  • Collaborative, with the ability to work independently and lead through influence.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and analytics/reporting tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Hybrid role; preferred locations include Morristown/Jersey City, NJ or Long Island/NY offices (flexibility considered).
  • Availability for business travel as needed.

For individuals assigned or hired to work in the location(s) indicated below, the base salary range is provided. Range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.

$145,000 - $198,000/year
  • Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
