Full Job Description
General Description:

The ideal candidate will have a B.S. in electrical engineering with an emphasis on microcontroller architecture and controls electronics. Degrees in computer science, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, naval architecture, or similar field with an emphasis on system engineering are also acceptable with relevant practical experience. The individual will develop system frameworks and designs to address customer needs in the field of autonomous and unmanned vehicles. The candidate will be asked to solve technically challenging problems, work with teams to develop evaluation plans for system validation and qualify data for algorithm training. Strong engineering fundamentals, ability to work in a team environment and excellent communication skills are required to be successful in this position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Develop systems for autonomy support on a variety of mobile platforms. This includes but is not limited to automated subsystems, machine health and safety monitoring, and communications.
  • Develop electronic and software interfaces with other systems, some of which may be with external industry partners.
  • Support creation of competitive proposals and follow-on programs for R&D customers, including DARPA, ONR, ARL, NASA, and other government agencies and industry primes.
  • Support preparation of reports and creation of presentations.
  • Support company marketing and business development via technical briefings, publications, conferences, and professional outreach activities.
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned.

Required Education/Experience/Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar field.
  • Systems approach to engineering and problem solving - ability to identify a problem/ opportunity, define solution requirements and develop new solution theory in a less structured environment.
  • Experience in development of microcontroller-based control solutions for automation.
  • Experience in industry standard communication protocols and solutions, and/or consumer grade or better microcontroller platforms.
  • Strong background with object-oriented programming in C/C++ and Python.
  • Demonstrated small team leadership and interpersonal skills for technical planning and coordination.
  • Excellent oral and written skills for technical communication.
  • Capable of working independently and as a part of a highly flexible engineering team.
  • Able to demonstrate initiative and possess time management skills to meet deadlines.

Desired Education/Experience/Skills:
  • 2+ years of applicable professional experience commensurate with degree.
  • Experience in Human Systems Integration (HSI), User Interfaces (UI), Multi-Vehicle Tasking, and/or Mission Planning for Unmanned Systems.
  • Experience in prototyping, hardware / system development and demonstration.
  • Familiarity with system and platform testing methods and data processing.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols including but not limited to PROFINET, Modbus, CAN(J1939/N2k/open), etc.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices.
  • Experience in software configuration management and troubleshooting, especially with git.

Other Position Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance if required by contract
