Job Title: Automotive Audio Systems Engineer

Location: San Francisco Bay Area, CA

Role Purpose

We are seeking an experienced Automotive Audio Systems Engineer to lead the development, integration, and validation of in-vehicle audio systems. This role will focus on delivering premium sound performance from concept through production launch, working across speaker selection, acoustic tuning, and vehicle-level system integration.

Responsibilities
  • Define audio system requirements, specifications, and performance targets.
  • Lead speaker selection, placement, and vehicle-level packaging and integration.
  • Conduct acoustic measurement, tuning, testing, and validation, including frequency response, distortion, and sound quality.
  • Support prototype builds and vehicle-level testing; troubleshoot and resolve root-cause audio issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Electrical, Hardware, Software, Interior, Infotainment, and Vehicle Integration.
  • Partner with suppliers on component development, reviews, and issue resolution.
  • Carry validation plans through engineering changes into production launch.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Acoustical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience developing, integrating, testing, and validating automotive audio systems.
  • Strong knowledge of speakers, amplifiers, microphones, acoustics, and audio signal processing.
  • Experience with acoustic measurement and tuning tools (Klippel, Audio Precision, SoundCheck, or similar).
  • Understanding of vehicle electrical/electronic systems and audio architectures.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; fluent English.

Bonus Qualifications
  • Experience with premium automotive audio systems and vehicle-level acoustic tuning.
  • Knowledge of DSP, EQ, filtering, and digital audio processing.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, Audio Weaver, miniDSP, or COMSOL.
  • Experience conducting subjective and objective sound-quality evaluations at the vehicle level.
  • Background at an OEM or Tier 1 automotive supplier.
