Full Job Description
We are seeking an Automation Service Engineer I/II, Oncology to provide service support to the laboratory operations team and to be responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of laboratory equipment utilized. This position requires a candidate that is strong in root cause analysis, application support and repair of equipment commonly used in the Next Generation Sequencing workflow. The role requires a detail-oriented candidate with experience in a regulated environment, exceptional documentation (GDP) abilities and strong written and verbal communication skills. This is an onsite position in our facility in Menlo Park, CA.

Shift Schedule: Monday - Friday, or Tuesday - Saturday PM shift

Responsibilities:
  • Provide service, support, and troubleshooting for automated processes and instrumentation.
  • Perform and coordinate maintenance work on laboratory equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, conduct root cause analysis, and problem solving on lab instruments.
  • Carry out Installation, Operational, and Process Qualifications on new equipment as necessary.
  • Collaborate with Quality Control to ensure all documentation is completed accurately and in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Effectively coordinate with vendors as required for equipment issues.
  • Maintain equipment parts inventory and well-organized equipment records.
  • Prepare documentation as needed for equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Propose and design plans for process improvements.
  • Represent the equipment and automation teams in cross-functional meetings.
  • Undertake special projects as assigned.

Requirements:
  • BS degree in a scientific discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in operating and troubleshooting laboratory equipment, preferably high-throughput molecular biology equipment, especially liquid handlers
  • Strong customer focused service experience.
  • Ability to engage in constructive dialogue, challenge concerns and maintain transparency.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving with limited direction and making confident decisions.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Solid understanding of statistical analyses relevant to automated lab processes.
  • Strong multi-tasking ability with a focus on prioritization.
  • Experience in troubleshooting complex scripts is an added advantage.
  • Experience working in a CLIA or similar regulated environment is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and build strong relationships.
  • Self-motivated with a high level of initiative.
  • Drive for continual improvement.

Nice-to-Haves:
  • Familiarity with Molecular Biology techniques, including next generation sequencing.
  • Experience with data science / data engineering in an automated laboratory environment.
  • Experience developing training programs and performing knowledge transfer.

For this position, we offer a total compensation package range of up to $179,169 per year, including a base pay rate of $48.95 - $69.57 per hour.
