Full Job Description
Milacron is looking for an Automation Project Engineer to join our team in Batavia, OH. In this position, you will be responsible for supporting the design, documentation, and execution of integrated automation projects while working closely with customers, production engineering, manufacturing teams, and automation equipment suppliers to deliver successful automation solutions.

Work You'll Do:
  • Create automation system layouts, equipment designs, and End-of-Arm Tooling (EOAT) concepts.
  • Develop and maintain project scopes of work, technical specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Produce technical drawings, engineering details, and project deliverables using CAD tools.
  • Support customer proposals, technical reviews, and solution development activities.
  • Size and specify robotic systems, automation equipment, and auxiliary components while identifying key supplier partners.
  • Design automation cell layouts, safety guarding systems, and EOAT solutions.
  • Coordinate project execution activities, including automation design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and runoff.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and customer acceptance events.
  • Collaborate closely with Production Engineering, Product Management, Manufacturing, and Commercial teams.
  • Maintain project schedules, milestones, documentation, and technical deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Business, or related fields required. Engineering degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience supporting capital equipment or capital projects.
  • Ability to create CAD layouts, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Strong project coordination and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and customer-facing teams.
  • Experience integrating robotics and automation systems preferred.
  • Experience sizing robots, evaluating cycle times and capacity requirements, selecting automation equipment, and designing safety guarding preferred.
  • Capital equipment industry experience preferred.
  • Experience in plastics processing, machine building, automation integration, or manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Experience with Fanuc, ABB, Yaskawa, KUKA, Sepro, B&R, Beckhoff, or similar automation platforms preferred.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 35%.
