OverviewThe purpose of this position is to supervise assigned claims personnel within prescribed units of authority and claims policy, practices and procedures. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities- Supervises, coordinates and monitors activities of a claims unit in order to obtain and ensure an accurate, quality product while maintaining high production standards and performance standards.
- Schedules, prioritizes, and distributes workflow of unit to ensure work is done in a timely fashion and all deadlines are met.
- Audits procedures and controls to ensure compliance with company and statutory requirements. Will provide statistical data to management to ensure adherence to company policies, procedures and state regulations.
- Provides technical assistance to members of staff and assist them with the disposition of departmental functions supporting claims staff.
- Ensures processing of bulk billings processed accurately and timely.
- Oversees Corporate claims closed files are prepared for shipment to facility, ensuring retention according to the Record Retention Schedule.
- Recognizes fraudulent claims activity that would be subject to SIU referral in accordance with company guidelines and subsequent referral to law enforcement or regulatory agencies.
- Reviews and implements claims audit recommendations on a continuous basis.
QualificationsKnowledge and Requirements- Expert proficiency in most standard business software applications (particularly Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook), Internet, HRIS and HRIS report writing.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Education and Experience- College degree preferred or 2+ years of claims experience, 2+ years supervisory experience of technical level staff, and 2 - 4 years insurance rating experience.

The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.
