Full Job Description
Have you built your career in Claims or technical accounting for L&H or P&C reinsurance and are now curious about what audit has to offer? Or perhaps you already have audit experience in P&C or L&H Reinsurance and are ready for your next exciting challenge?

If you are a sharp, inquisitive thinker who loves digging into complex problems, uncovering risks, and driving meaningful change, this could be the role for you. Join Swiss Re's Group Internal Audit (GIA) team and play a key role in advancing Swiss Re's resilience.

About the Role

As an Auditor in Group Internal Audit, you will bring your expertise across the full reinsurance end-to-end value chain, contributing to a wide variety of audit activities that have real organizational impact. This role offers exposure to several parts of the organization, giving you the opportunity to learn how different functions operate, connect, and manage risk. Your perspective matters - you will help identify risk themes and provide clear insights that support informed decision-making.

This is an opportunity to apply your reinsurance expertise in an audit environment, broaden your understanding of the organization, and contribute to practical improvements that strengthen risk management and controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality audit reports by contributing to a diverse portfolio of audits across the (re)insurance value chain, ensuring timely and risk-focused outcomes
  • Provide actionable insights to management by identifying improvement opportunities and translating audit findings into clear, practical observations and recommendations
  • Monitor and analyze the risk landscape, leveraging relevant data points to inform GIA's risk assessment and audit planning processes
  • Evaluate governance, processes, controls, and risk management practices across the end-to-end reinsurance process to assess their effectiveness
  • Identify and assess key and emerging risks across the (re)insurance value chain, ensuring GIA stays ahead of the curve
  • Share reinsurance expertise with audit colleagues by contributing technical knowledge and practical perspectives during audit planning, fieldwork, and reporting
  • Engage effectively with stakeholders, supporting transparent and constructive dialogue throughout the audit lifecycle
  • Contribute to a strong risk culture at Swiss Re by helping identify themes, lessons learned, and opportunities to improve risk management practices

About the Team

Swiss Re's Group Internal Audit (GIA) provides independent and objective assurance to support the Board of Directors and Group Executive Committee in protecting the company's assets, reputation, and long-term sustainability. Our vision is clear: Advancing Swiss Re's Resilience.

We are a diverse, international team of problem solvers who lead from every seat, challenge the status quo, and are deeply attuned to risk. We do not just tick boxes - we apply innovative, risk-focused techniques to ensure our audit efforts are always proportionate to what matters most.

We are continuously expanding our use of data analytics and automation, pushing the boundaries of what modern internal audit looks like. If you thrive in an environment that values curiosity, collaboration, and continuous learning, you will feel right at home here.

About You

We are looking for an intellectually curious professional with a strong investigative mindset; someone who challenges assumptions, looks beyond the obvious, and digs deep into core re/insurance processes to identify what could go wrong and where improvements can be made. You bring a delivery-oriented, collaborative approach combined with critical and creative thinking to strengthen organizational resilience and the control' environment. You are comfortable working through ambiguity, asking thoughtful questions, and communicating clear insights that support meaningful outcomes.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in external and/or internal audit, technical accounting, or claims within the re/insurance industry
  • Solid knowledge of (re)insurance value chain and administration process including its governance frameworks, risk landscape, and control environments
  • Strong understanding of governance processes and controls, with the ability to evaluate their effectiveness across complex organizational structures
  • University degree in a relevant field (e.g., Finance, Accounting, Business, or equivalent)
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills able to convey complex findings clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences

These are additional nice to haves:
  • Experience with data analytics tools or automation
  • Familiarity with L&H and/or P&C reinsurance products, processes, and market dynamics
  • Professional certifications such as CIA, CPA, or equivalent
  • Experience engaging with various stakeholders and communicating audit observations clearly and professionally
  • Highly organized, natural self-starter with the ability to work under pressure and tight timelines while maintaining quality
  • A collaborative approach with the ability to listen actively, ask thoughtful questions, and work effectively across different levels of the organization

Our company operates under a hybrid work model, with the expectation that employees will work from the office three days per week every week. Please note that this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship/visa transfers/visa extension or relocation support.

The estimated base salary range for this position is $86,000 to $144,000. The specific salary offered for this, or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short- and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
