Description of Work
This position is designated as Exempt Policy-Making under G.S. 126-5(c)(3) and is considered an at-will appointment.

The Office of the State Auditor (OSA) is seeking an Audit Manager to help lead our Performance Audit Division. This position involves conducting advanced and specialized audit work, which includes managerial and supervisory duties.

As part of our team, you will get to:
Perform managerial and oversight functions over a Performance Audit Team
Plan, coordinate, supervise, and evaluate the work of audit staff
Assist in establishing the long-term and short-term goals of the Performance Audit Division
Mentor in the training and development of audit staff
Exercise a high level of independent decision-making
Draft and review audit reports for senior management review

Salary Range: $100,000 - $130,000

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrates considerable knowledge of supervisory practices and skills in supervising others, along with having a basic knowledge of strategic planning


  • Ability to develop and implement the agency's vision and mission, along with the office-wide goals and objectives


  • Ability to serve as a technical resource, along being able to develop professional working relationships both internally and externally


  • Ability to facilitate employee development by providing guidance and feedback


This position is designated as Exempt Policy-Making under G.S. 126-5(c)(3) and is considered an at-will appointment.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits including:

A bachelor's degree with 12 semester hours in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution and 5 years of experience in auditing/accounting or program evaluation, one of which must have been functioning as an audit lead or supervisor
