Summary:

We are seeking an Attorney that will be responsible for handling litigation matters across the premises liability defense, auto defense and the firm's specialized practice areas and will be responsible for handling most aspects of litigation, including legal drafting, handling discovery requests and responses, conducting legal research, written discovery, motion practice, court appearances, mediations, client and witness interviews, arbitration and trial preparation.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. However, the individual may provide indirect guidance or task coordination to legal assistants, clerical staff, or interns in connection with case preparation and defense-related activities.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage a full caseload of third party property matters from inception through resolution
  • Handle all aspects of litigation including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediation, and trial preparation
  • Draft and argue dispositive and substantive motions, including motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, and motions in limine
  • Conduct and defend depositions of plaintiffs, fact witnesses, corporate representatives, and expert witnesses
  • Prepare cases for trial, including witness preparation, exhibit coordination, trial briefs, and evidentiary strategy
  • Participate in mediations, settlement negotiations, and settlement conferences
  • Conduct site inspections and attend in-person hearings and depositions as required
  • Collaborate with partners, associates, paralegals, and support staff to ensure cases progress efficiently and strategically
  • Ensure compliance with court rules, deadlines, and case management orders

Education & Experience:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice in the state of Florida
  • 3-5 years of experience practicing third party property law in a Trial Law Firm preferred.
  • Background & knowledge of Florida premises liability and auto defense laws, procedures, and defense strategies.
  • Ability to independently manage case files from assessment through resolution.
  • Proficiency in legal research, case analysis, and written and oral advocacy skills.
