About the Role:

Reporting to the Associate Director, Sports Performance, the position of Athletic Therapist supports the health and performance of Brock’s student-athletes and community clients. The role provides treatment to injuries, rehabilitation planning, and preventative care for varsity athletes. Additionally, the position provides billable services to varsity athletes and community clients to support departmental revenue targets.

The Athletic Therapist will: 

  • Assess, treat, and rehabilitate musculoskeletal injuries for varsity athletes and clinic patients;
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, maintenance programs, and return-to-play protocols to support recovery and performance goals;
  • Provide on-field coverage and emergency care during practices and games as required;
  • Maintain accurate and confidential clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory standards;
  • Collaborate with coaches, sport performance staff, sport medicine physicians, and other health professionals to optimize athlete care;
  • Promote Brock Sports Medicine Community Programs to drive new clientele to for the growth of the department and /or Clinic as a member of the Sports Medicine team (i.e., Brock students, staff, faculty, community members, etc.);
  • Provide at least 30% of weekly hours as approved billable therapeutic services;  
  • Provide an effective strategy for client retention; including regular check-ins and surveys of self-evaluation through efficient case management;
  • Promote and implement strategies for the referral of new clients to the Clinic to support on-going revenue generation for the Clinic;
  • Schedule appointments, manage client records, and process billing in alignment with Brock EMR systems; and
  • Support student learning by providing job shadowing and mentorship opportunities for BSM students, placement or co-op students.


Key Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in Athletic Therapy or KINE
  • Certified Athletic Therapist (CAT(C)) in good standing with the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association (CATA); 
  • Clinical experience, as an Athletic Therapist;
  • Certified First Responder (on-field care); and 
  • CPR and First Aid certification.

Preferred or Asset Skills: 

  • Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) 

Salary and Total Rewards: 

  • Job Grade K, Salary Scale $66,545.00 - 106,491.00
  • Target Hiring Range: $66,545.00 to 76,897.12
  • This is a permanent position that includes:
