TRAINING SPECIALIST SENIOR - ASW Training Specialist

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As a Training Specialist Senior, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of SCSTC Detachment Southwest. You will play a crucial role in Undersea Warfare (USW) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to develop, organize, and deliver Combat System and SONAR Operation training.
● As a Training Specialist, the candidate will conduct both classroom and scenario-based shipboard instruction for critical tactical watch stations, including SONAR Supervisor and Acoustic Sensor Operator (ASO). A primary focus of the role is instructing Officers and Sailors in the tactical employment of the ASW SONAR Suite and the integration of embedded training systems such as the Surface ASW Synthetic Trainer (SAST) and Battle Force Tactical Trainer (BFTT). The ideal candidate brings a strong background in ASW mission planning and tactical communication, and will provide expert support for SCSTC curriculum development as required.
● Coordinates the development and delivery of complex ASW training programs and related materials in support of customer training objectives.


WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
● Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, or work/military experience.

● Experience: 5+ years of related experience
● Technical skills: Proven expertise as a qualified SONAR Supervisor and Acoustic Sensor Operator-S (ASO-S) on AN/SQQ-89A(V)15 combat systems.

● Security clearance level: Must possess active Secret Clearance.

● US citizenship required
● Role requirements:

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience utilizing and integrating shipboard and shore-based embedded training systems, specifically Trainer Control Workstation (TCW), the Surface ASW Synthetic Trainer (SAST), and Battle Force Tactical Trainer (BFTT).

  • Must be a qualified Navy Instructor (NEC 805A) with a strong background in curriculum development and delivering high-stakes military training.

  • Must have extensive shipboard experience executing complex fleet-level exercises and CRUDES Basic Phase Training Cycles.

  • Demonstrated experience in modernization efforts, such as overhauling courses, authoring Standard Operating Procedures, and conducting pilot courses to guarantee curriculum effectiveness.

  • Must be able to support training with extended periods on your feet while instructing. Travel may be required up to 10% of time.

● Additional Preferred Qualifications :

  • A strong background in Sailor development, including mentoring junior instructors, leading divisions, and managing qualification progress.

  • Proven expertise utilizing the Combat Systems Operational Sequencing System (CSOSS) and driving operational readiness as an active member or leader of a Combat Systems Training Team (CSTT).

  • A strong background in Acoustic Analysis and Target Motion Analysis.

  • A strong working knowledge of maintenance requirements for the AN/SQQ-89A(V)15 SONAR system(s) and associated Auxiliary equipment as well as SVTT (Surface Vessel Torpedo Tubes).

  • Designation Letters for ASWC and SUWC a significant plus.


The likely salary range for this position is $76,500 - $103,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
