The Associate Vice President of Retail Pharmacies provides strategic and operational leadership for retail pharmacy services, driving financial performance, growth initiatives, clinical campaigns, regulatory compliance, technology implementation, and facility development across the retail pharmacy organization. This role is accountable for driving organizational strategy into operational execution while overseeing large-scale initiatives that improve patient access, drive retail pharmacy performance, and provide long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Growth andRetail PharmacyDevelopment
Leads enterprise pharmacy growth initiatives, including new pharmacy builds, expansions, relocations, and operational enhancements.
Oversees implementation of innovative pharmacy technologies and service models, including specialty pharmacy programs,courier deliver models,automated andAI-enabled solutions, enabling furtherhealthcare integration.
Directsnew and innovative programsand evaluates operational, clinical, and financial outcomes to determine readiness for market expansion.
Develops and executes multi-year strategic plans supporting retail pharmacy growth,healthcare integration,patient accessibility, and competitive positioning.
Operational Excellence
Provides executive oversight for retail pharmacy operations, ensuring efficient prescription dispensing, inventory management, revenue cycle performance, and service delivery.
Monitors key operational metrics, including prescription volume, patient engagement, fulfillment rates, and dispensing performance.
Ensures implementation of standardized workflows and process improvements that increase productivity and patient satisfaction.
Partners withCenterWellleadershipand support teamsto resolve operational barriers impacting performance and growth initiatives.
Financial Accountability
Accountable for the full Retail Pharmacy P&L, including revenue growth, gross margin performance, labor optimization, inventory management, reimbursement strategy, and operating income results.
Oversees capital planning and prioritization for pharmacy construction, remodels, technology investments, and expansion opportunities.
Partners with Finance, Accounting, and Revenue Cycle leaders to improve reporting, revenue, accounts receivable management, inventory controls, and reimbursement performance.
Evaluates business cases and return-on-investment analyses for new market opportunities and strategic initiatives.
Integrated Healthand Programs
Provides leadership for immunization andintegrated healthprograms, including onsite and offsite vaccination initiatives.
Ensures operational readiness for seasonal vaccination campaigns through staffing alignment, inventory planning, marketing coordination, and patient outreach.
CollaboratewithHumana and CenterWell lines of businessto expand preventive care offerings and improve patient outcomes.
Accountable for patient experience performance, Net Promoter Score (NPS), consumer retention, medication adherence, and service excellence initiatives.
Supports Humana STARS strategy including executing tospecific programs to improve patient outcomes.
Facilities,Growth Strategy, and Regulatory Compliance
Oversees pharmacygrowth strategy includingnetwork strategy,payorreimbursement models,contractperformance,construction, renovation, relocation,closures,and expansion projects from planning through activation.
Partners with Facilities, Regulatory Affairs, and external agencies to secure all necessary permits, licenses, and operational approvals.
Ensures compliance with Board of Pharmacy, DEA, state, federal, and accreditation requirements.Maintains executive accountability for pharmacy compliance, audit readiness, controlled substance oversight, risk mitigation, and enterprise regulatory adherence.
Monitors project timelines, budgets, and risk mitigation plans to support successful openings and operational transitions.
Technology and Innovation Leadership
Provides executive sponsorship for pharmacy technology initiatives, including dispensing systems, automation, AI-supported workflows, and software integrations.
Collaborates with Information Technology teams to address infrastructure requirements, cybersecurity standards, network integration, and system deployment.
Identifies opportunities to leverage technology and analytics to improve operational performance and patient experience.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Leadership
Works cross-functionally withtheCenterWellsegments, Specialtyand TraditionalPharmacy Leaders,Operations, Finance, Clinical Services, Information Technology, Regulatory Affairs, Facilities, and external vendors to advance strategic initiativesand drive business integration.
Leads teams through organizational change, ensuring successful adoption of new processes, systems, and service models.
Provides coaching and guidance toretailpharmacy leaders while fostering a culture oftheHumana Way.

Required Qualifications
Advanced degree,PharmD,orB.S. of Pharmacy
8 or more years of technical experience
5 or more years of management experience
Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
If PharmD or PharmBS,must have an active license with the Board of Pharmacy in the appropriate state.

Pay Range
The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$203,400 - $279,800 per year
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
