Full Job Description
The Associate Vice President, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) serves as a senior finance leader responsible for providing strategic financial insight, forecasting, and decision support for CenterWell and Conviva's Primary Care Organization (PCO). This role leads the development of current-year forecasts, annual operating plans, and long-range financial strategies, including ownership of the 5-Year Plan, gross margin outlook, unit economics, and growth assumptions supporting enterprise and segment decision-making. The AVP partners closely with executive leadership, operations, actuarial, strategy, development, and payer teams to evaluate business performance, assess strategic opportunities, and guide capital allocation decisions. The role is responsible for collecting, validating, analyzing, and translating complex financial and operational information into actionable insights that support acquisitions, investments, divestitures, mergers, expansions, payer strategies, and other strategic initiatives. Key responsibilities include evaluating industry, economic, healthcare, financial, and market trends to forecast the organization's short-, medium-, and long-term financial performance and competitive position. The AVP provides leadership across financial planning, forecasting, reporting, budgeting, business case development, and financial modeling, with a particular focus on understanding and optimizing the key drivers of profitability, growth, and value creation within the Primary Care Organization. In addition to traditional FP&A responsibilities, this role is accountable for developing and strengthening several critical finance capabilities required to support CenterWell's growth strategy: Strategic Responsibilities Financial Planning, Forecasting & Value Creation • Lead development of current-year forecasts, annual operating plans, and 5-Year Plans for CenterWell and Conviva's Primary Care Organization. • Own forecasting and analysis of gross margin, unit economics, membership growth, clinic performance, provider economics, and long-term profitability. • Develop driver-based financial models to support strategic planning, investment decisions, and value creation initiatives. • Provide financial leadership and recommendations to senior executives regarding operational and strategic alternatives. M&A Due Diligence • Lead financial diligence activities supporting acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic investments. • Evaluate transaction opportunities, synergy assumptions, integration economics, and long-term value creation. • Build scalable diligence capabilities to support anticipated inorganic growth initiatives embedded within the organization's long-range plan. Bid Strategy and Bid Diligence • Partner with payer, actuarial, and operational leaders to evaluate bid assumptions, provider risk arrangements, benefit changes, and revenue implications. • Identify and quantify financial exposures, opportunities, and risks associated with Medicare Advantage bid submissions and contracting strategies. Payer Contracting and Network Strategy • Provide financial leadership for payer contracting, recontracting, termination evaluations, and network optimization activities. • Analyze strategic, operational, and financial implications of payer relationships and contract structures. • Reduce key-person dependencies by establishing repeatable analytical frameworks and broader organizational capabilities. Driver-Based P&L Development and Enhanced Management Reporting • Lead development of future-state driver-based P&Ls, management reporting, and KPI frameworks. • Enhance Monthly Financial Reviews (MFRs) by connecting financial outcomes to operational drivers and economic performance. • Serve as a strategic advisor to leadership by providing deeper insight into the underlying drivers of profitability, growth, trend performance, and the organization's value creation curve. Leadership Expectations • Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with CenterWell and enterprise objectives. • Lead cross-functional teams and influence executive decision-making through financial expertise and business partnership. • Build organizational capabilities that improve forecasting accuracy, financial transparency, governance, and strategic decision-making. • Drive accountability for business outcomes while balancing short-term performance objectives with long-term value creation. This role operates with significant autonomy and influence, shaping both the financial strategy and operating model of the Primary Care Organization while supporting CenterWell's long-term growth and profitability objectives. Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Actuarial Science, Business, or related field. • 10+ years of progressive experience in Financial Planning & Analysis, actuarial, healthcare finance, corporate development, or strategic finance. • 5+ years of leadership experience managing teams and influencing senior executives. • Demonstrated Medicare Advantage and/or value-based care experience, including forecasting, bid support, provider economics, payer contracting, or healthcare services. • Experience developing annual operating plans, forecasts, long-range plans, and financial models. • Strong analytical, strategic planning, and executive communication skills. • Passion for improving healthcare outcomes and consumer experiences through financial and operational excellence. Preferred Qualifications • MBA, MHA, MS Finance, or other advanced degree. • ASA, FSA, CPA, CFA, or similar professional designation. • Experience with Medicare Advantage bids, M&A diligence, reserving/IBNR governance, payer contracting, and healthcare growth strategy. • Experience leading driver-based planning, long-range financial modeling, and advanced healthcare analytics. Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 Pay Range The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc. $184,800 - $254,100 per year This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan.
