Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be part of the Functional Genomics department, which is devoted to identifying and characterizing novel drug targets for cancer using our functional genomics platforms. This person will play an important role in advancing our discovery platform technology and small molecule pipeline. The candidate will assist in the design and implementation of experiments aimed at identifying and validating drug targets and defining drug or gene mechanism of action. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded molecular biologist with demonstrated experience in cancer or immunology drug discovery.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Independently conduct experiments to understand drug mechanism of action
  • Conduct large-scale mammalian cell culture experiments
  • Successfully deploy advanced CRISPR/Cas9 techniques to perturb the genome and transcriptome
  • Conduct large-scale mammalian cell culture genetic perturbation studies using advanced CRISPR/Cas9 techniques
  • Use molecular biology techniques to support target and hit validation
  • DNA isolation, library preparation and next-generation sequencing
  • Cell line engineering
  • Contribute to experimental design and planning
  • Perform and optimize cellular assays to support drug discovery efforts
  • Independently summarize, analyze and regularly present work internally
  • Maintain exceptional scientific records of projects and experiments

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • BS in a relevant scientific field with at least 7 years of hands-on laboratory experience; MS with 5 years; or PhD with 0-2 years of experience; industry experience preferred
  • Experience working as part of a goal-oriented team
  • Demonstrated ability to work proficiently, maintain deadlines and think critically about technical aspects of experiments
  • Must be detail oriented and demonstrate excellent communication skills
  • Experience with molecular and cellular biology techniques such as cloning, PCR, qPCR, protein isolation, western blotting
  • Experience with multicolor flow cytometry
  • RNA/DNA isolation and sequencing
  • Extensive mammalian cell culture experience required
  • CRISPR, shRNA, and/or siRNA experience

The following skills are a plus:
  • Familiarity with genomic sequencing and functional genomic techniques
  • Experience working on small molecule drug discovery programs

Pay & Benefits:

The anticipated base salary for this position ranges from $90,000 to $120,000 depending on relevant skills, competencies, experience, and education. In addition, this position is eligible for target bonus, long-term-incentives, 401k retirement savings plan with company match, and a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance.
