Full Job Description
Our Associate General Counsel - Mortgage Servicing Compliance will be responsible for a variety of regulatory and legal matters specifically pertaining to mortgage loan servicing, as well as supporting the business from a compliance standpoint across all operations. This role requires 100% onsite attendance in our Pontiac office.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Providing expert legal and regulatory guidance to our mortgage loan servicing division, ensuring adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Interpreting complex legislation and regulations affecting mortgage lenders and servicers, including but not limited to TILA, RESPA, ECOA, FCRA, FDCPA, and state-specific servicing requirements.
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining robust compliance policies and procedures for servicing operations.
  • Reviewing and advising on business relationships with vendors, with a focus on compliance and servicing-related agreements.
  • Conducting in-depth legal research on unique legal and compliance issues impacting the organization, particularly within the servicing landscape.
  • Keeping abreast of legislative, regulatory, and judicial changes that may affect the Company's servicing and compliance functions, and advising leadership on potential impacts and necessary adjustments.
  • Providing comprehensive legal and compliance training to Company team members, with an emphasis on servicing regulations and best practices.
  • Assisting with regulatory examinations, audits, and responses to regulatory inquiries related to servicing and compliance.
  • Managing and advising on legal disputes, litigation, and enforcement actions pertaining to mortgage servicing.


WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

Must Have Qualifications:
  • Michigan bar licensed attorney
  • 5+ years of experience performing corporate legal work, with significant experience in mortgage loan servicing and/or regulatory compliance within the financial services industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise in federal and state mortgage servicing regulations.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively translate complex legal concepts to business stakeholders.
  • Effective planning, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in legal analysis and documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-based environment.
  • Critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with a strong drive to ensure regulatory adherence and mitigate risk.
