Full Job Description
Job Title: Associate General Counsel

Location: Richmond, VA

Starting Compensation Range: $115,000 - $140,000 per year

What You'll Do:
  • Commercial Contract Drafting and Negotiation:
    • Draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including non-disclosure agreements, master supplier and vendor agreements, sales and purchase orders, professional services agreements and a wide array of other vendor agreements
    • Contribute to negotiation of agreements with vendors and suppliers
    • Collaborate with business units to understand objectives and provide guidance on legal implications
    • Stay informed about industry-specific regulations and legal developments
  • Contract Review and Administration: Assist General Counsel in review and administration of corporate contracts and relationships
  • Special Projects: Undertake special projects on an as-needed basis, contributing legal expertise to cross-functional initiatives
  • Compliance Management:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive compliance programs
    • Conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards
    • Provide guidance on compliance matters to internal stakeholders
    • Contribute to the development and updating of company policies
    • Ensure policies are legally sound, aligned with business goals, and communicated effectively
  • Work in coordination with team to achieve Continuous Improvement goals and objectives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For:
  • Juris Doctorate degree from a top-ranked accredited law school
  • Minimum of three years of law firm or a combination of law firm and in-house hands-on experience drafting and negotiating contracts
  • Experience effectively handling a high volume of contracts
  • Licensed to practice law in Virginia or eligible to be admitted under a Virginia Corporate Counsel Certificate
  • Excellent knowledge of commercial contracts and the ability to creatively solve problems while applying sound business and legal judgment to a wide variety of commercial contracts and relationships
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address complex contracts and vendor agreements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively interact with legal and non-legal team members
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills
