Full Job Description
Baldwin seeks an experienced, highly motivated attorney to serve as an Associate General Counsel on its nationwide litigation team. This role will work closely across the Company’s platform to advise on all litigation matters with a focus on restrictive covenant and E&O related matters. The AGC will also work closely with the Deputy General Counsel and litigation team to independently manage complex dockets consisting of litigation, claims, circumstances, subpoenas, and other matters. In addition to managing litigation, the AGC will be tasked with providing legal counsel and guidance to management on strategies and solutions to anticipate and identify legal, regulatory, and/or compliance issues that may impact Baldwin in the future.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage a variety of litigation and pre-litigation matters, including restrictive covenant litigation, insurance regulatory issues, potential E&O and professional liability exposures, and general commercial disputes;
  • Provide leadership and counseling around litigation and serve as the primary liaison to outside counsel, managing litigation strategy, budgets, and outcomes across multiple firms and jurisdictions;
  • Issuing cease-and-desist letters, coordinating notifications to new employers, and supporting related litigation strategy;
  • Investigate and manage E&O and broker/agency errors exposure, including coordinating with the Company’s E&O carrier, advising on broker-of-record terminations and client notifications, and corresponding with claimant and opposing counsel;
  • Draft and review litigation holds, ensuring timely issuance, tracking, and compliance;
  • Prepare quarterly litigation and claims updates to executive leadership, and advise Regional Presidents and senior leadership on litigation risk and strategy; and
  • Evaluate potential legal exposures and make substantive decisions for all lines of business.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one state;
  • 3+ years of litigation experience at a law firm and/or in-house role, excellent communication and relationship-building skills, and a strong work ethic;
  • Insurance defense and restrictive covenant experience is highly preferred;
  • Employment experience is a strong plus;
  • Experience with Smartsheets and Claude is a plus;
  • Detail-oriented with excellent legal judgment and strong organizational skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Effectively deals with issues that are complex, confidential, and sensitive in nature;
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and time management skills;
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines; and
  • Excellent work ethic with a high degree of professionalism, and a proven ability to work both independently and within a team.
