Full Job Description
Join EthosEnergy as Associate Electrical Engineer for the Apex Power Project, a 531 MW natural gas-fired facility in Clark County, Nevada. The Associate Electrical Engineer is responsible for plant engineering design, capital, and special projects, operational and maintenance consulting support, supporting regulatory and environmental compliance and duties as assigned.

Successful candidates must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program. 2 years of previous power plant experience or similar is required. Preference given to those with strong knowledge of electrical theory and programming and ability to read and interpret plant drawings including electrical schematics, and a knowledge of programming. Please note that this position does not offer visa sponsorship.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance in the resolution/prevention of equipment problems and in determining causes of failures.
  • Work with Maintenance and Operations personnel to identify, evaluate and provide solutions to complex technical problems and resolve equipment/ system design issues timely.
  • Direct activities of contractors to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Troubleshoot plant issues using technical knowledge and ability to design, specify/develop bid packages and recommend appropriate/essential resolutions to plant issues.
  • Identify, evaluate, and provide solutions to complex technical problems timely.
  • Update and document control of manuals, drawings and various databases of plant information.
  • Perform other duties and administrative tasks as assigned by the Facility Manager.
  • Utilize Digital Control Systems (DCS) plant computer.
  • Participate in Station regulatory compliance duties WECC, NERC etc.
  • Use engineering practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making, preparing and presenting sound recommendations.
  • Conduct engineering and related studies and completes non-routine engineering projects with minimal oversight.
  • Independently manage project schedules and interfaces.
  • Display competency to design, operate and maintain systems with moderate impact on existing systems.
Required Skills / Knowledge

  • A technical and diverse knowledge of Power Plant Operations and Maintenance, performance calculations, and practices; including specifying and managing projects and contractors.
  • Strong computer skills to include spreadsheets, databases, word- processing, auto-cad, and project software.
  • A recognized degree in engineering or scientific discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • A professional license in an appropriate discipline from a recognized licensing board or specialized courses in relevant general engineering or appropriate engineering discipline.
  • Progressive work experience in a combined cycle power plant using GE 7FA technology or related fields.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate complex issues to management and peers clearly, concisely and accurately.
  • Ability to productively work independently and as an integral plant staff team member.
  • Self-motivation and ability to manage multiple projects/tasks with changing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Aptitude for determining causes of failure and developing solutions.
  • Ability to respond calmly and think clearly in emergency situations
  • Demonstrates proficiency with engineering computer programs - MicroStation, and/or AutoCAD, Inventor, AutoCAD Electrical, Computerized Maintenance Software and PI data link or similar is desired.
  • Must have proficiency in Microsoft office suites, outlook, word, excel and PowerPoint.
Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years' previous experience in Power Plant Operations and Maintenance.
  • Progressive work experience in a combined cycle power plant using GE 7FA technology or related fields
  • Work experience with Combustion Turbines (Gas turbines), experience with Steam Turbines and/or ABB DCS or similar power generation experience is desired.
Education Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • 2 year of previous power plant experience or similar.
Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk, reach, climb, and lift (up to 50 pounds).
  • Must be able to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
