Full Job Description
Associate Director, Supply Chain

Build and own the supply chain and collection network for one of Canada's leading electronics recyclers.

Company: Quantum Lifecycle Partners (quantumlifecycle.com)

Location: Toronto / Brampton, ON (hybrid) - with travel across our network in Canada, the US, and Costa Rica

Reports to: VP, Business Operations

Type: Full-time, permanent

The opportunity

Quantum is scaling, and the way we move material and manage spend has to scale with it. This newly created role builds and owns that - our end-to-end supply chain and collection network across every site - and leads it out front with our customers. You'll set the standard rather than inherit one: establishing how we work, improving how it flows, and getting the most from the systems we run every day. The role is weighted toward logistics and also owns procurement, so you should be strong in logistics and fully capable across purchasing, vendors, and spend.

What you'll own

Customers and solutions

  • Design supply chain and collection solutions for and with customers across our sites.
  • Represent supply chain in customer and account reviews, and own customer logistics escalations and service performance.
  • Deliver a consistent collection experience for customers across every site and region.

Collection network and logistics

  • Own inbound collections and reverse logistics, movement between sites, and outbound to downstream partners and customers - including fleet, freight, routing, and field services.
  • Build and manage a network of qualified third-party collection partners and carriers; design and optimize routes, consolidation points, and coverage to scale with growth.
  • Ensure secure, tracked movement of material - including data-bearing devices and controlled streams - with accurate shipping and import/export documentation and chain of custody to final disposition, consistent with R2 transport requirements.

Process, standards and systems

  • Write and establish standardized logistics and procurement processes as the company standard.
  • Analyze and continuously improve process flows against best-in-class practice.
  • Understand and improve the business systems we run every day (ERP / Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central) and the data behind them.

Procurement

  • Own vendor and supplier management, sourcing, contracts, supplier performance, and the purchase-order and spend-control process in Business Central - delivering spend visibility, control, and savings.

Compliance and regulated movement

  • Ensure compliant transport of regulated material - batteries and other dangerous goods (TDG) and e-waste moving across borders (Basel) - using qualified transporters and accurate documentation.
  • Build out and strengthen customs and trade-compliance processes for cross-border movement.

What success looks like in your first year

  • One documented logistics and procurement standard, rolling out across the network.
  • A mapped, optimized collection network with the right qualified-partner coverage.
  • Spend under control in Business Central - clear visibility and early savings.
  • Stronger, well-documented customs and regulated-movement processes.

What you bring

Must-haves

  • 7-10 years of progressive supply chain and logistics experience (logistics-weighted) with procurement responsibility; we weight capability and ownership over an exact number of years.
  • A leader who owns the role without being directed and is equally ready to get into the detail and solve the problem.
  • A track record of establishing processes, improving flows, and getting more from ERP and data systems.
  • Customer-facing - able to design and present solutions directly to customers.
  • Strong leadership and team building, with multi-site standardization experience.
  • Willingness to travel across Canada, with periodic US and Costa Rica travel. A relevant degree is preferred.

Strongly preferred (our niche takes time to learn)

  • Experience with regulated material - dangerous goods / TDG, transboundary movement under Basel, and customs / import-export - and with R2-certified operations.
  • Recycling, ITAD, waste, 3PL, or manufacturing background; supply chain certification (SCMP, CSCP, P.Log., PMP); French or Spanish.

You'll thrive here if you

  • Get your energy from building and standardizing, not maintaining what already exists.
  • Are comfortable owning ambiguity and turning it into clear, repeatable process.
  • Like being close to both the customer and the operational detail.

Why join

A rare chance to build a function, not just run one - to own how a growing company moves and buys, working directly with the customers we serve, with company-wide visibility reporting to the

VP, Business Operations.

What We Offer:
  • Company-paid Extended Health & Dental Benefits
  • Disability and Life Insurance
  • RRSP Match Program up to 4%
  • 3 weeks' vacation
  • Education Reimbursement Program
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Safety Shoes & Glasses Reimbursement
  • Employee Purchase Program (up to 22% off on Qnovum.ca)
  • Opportunity to play a part in protecting the environment and contributing to sustainability!
