Job Description:The Associate Director of Residential Life leads housing operations including housing assignments, facilities, marketing, technology, and student conduct. This position serves as a liaison to campus offices, oversees student conduct for the residence halls, assists with housing occupancy and projections, and manages departments policies, processes, and procedures. In support of our students' success, this position provides key leadership and communication in crisis response, communication with students and their support systems, and in collaboration with other offices. The incumbent will demonstrate commitment to enhancing an atmosphere of diversity and inclusion for students and staff. The position supervises the Assistant Directors for: Assignments, Facilities and Operations, Business Operations, and Student Conduct. The position reports to the Director of Residential Life.
Primary Responsibilities:- Oversees the student conduct for Residential Life. Reviews student conduct records for consistency and accuracy, ensuring that living area staff submit conduct paperwork promptly. Serve as an appellate-level representative of the student conduct process for residential student cases that result in more significant sanctions.
- Evaluate and assess university housing occupancy and assist with projection trends, housing needs, and enrollment targets. Manage the Terms and Conditions of the Residence Halls and Apartments License, Housing Cancellations, and Withdrawals.
- Oversight of facilities and operations components of the residence halls, including management of residential life's ongoing maintenance, planning, renovations, construction, and improvement projects.
- In partnership with the Housing Selection Committee, ensure the functional roles the Associate Director oversees are supporting the efforts of the continuing and new student housing application and selection processes. Oversee all aspects of the marketing and promotion of housing applications and ongoing communication with prospective residential students for all first-time students (freshmen, transfers, international). Ensure all Residential Life staff members have access to necessary campus systems and applications to complete their work.
- Supervise four Assistant Directors (Assignments, Facilities and Operations, Business Operations, and Student Conduct). Lead and manage direct reports/team providing guidance, support, and performance feedback to assure goals, programs, activities, and personnel practices are consistent with and contribute to the University's mission. Lead employees for maximum performance and dedication, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Complete performance management feedback and goals timely and per requirements, offering constructive feedback and developing improvement plans.
- Attend all training sessions, in-services, meetings, and other departmental, divisional, or campus meetings.
- Serve as a member of departmental middle management group and is assist in the review, development and implementation of all departmental policies and procedures, including reviewing all policies to ensure that they are inclusive for all students, wherever a policy may disadvantage a student based on any demographic or protected status, work to improve the housing operations and policies for equity and fairness.
- Provide on-duty emergency back up coverage for students during the academic year, recesses, and summer ona rotating basis. Coordinate the back up duty schedule for middle management.
- Communicate pertinent information to the Office Manager
- Other reasonable duties as assigned

Requirements:Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization with a minimum of 8 years experience in Residential Life at the collegiate level, OR a Master's degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Residential Life at the collegiate level
- Two years of supervisory experience
- Experience with crisis management
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience working with student conduct, facilities, assignments, marketing, and technology in residential life at the collegiate level
- Experience with StarRez
- Experience with Maxient
Working Environment:- The working environment is a blend of a typical office environment, residence halls, residential or program spaces, and outdoor campus locations.
- Given the nature of Residential Life, there is often a need for flexibility and adaptability, as responsibilities shift throughout the academic year, with peak periods during residence hall openings and closing, specialty area key time periods, duty, key administrative operations, and during unexpected emergency response.
- Physically, the role may involve occasional standing, walking, extended sitting and computer use.
- Mentally, the role is dynamic, fast-paced, and demanding.

Professional Rank and Salary Grade: Staff Associate, SL4, $80,000-90,000.
