Position Title:

Associate Director of Government Accounts

Salary Range:

Associate Director of Government Accounts (Grade 17, Exempt). Annual salary range: $114,320 6 $142,900. This range reflects the minimum to midpoint of the grade. Salary may exceed the midpoint and will commensurate with experience.

Job Description Summary:

The Associate Director of Government Accounts is responsible for assisting in providing leadership, management, financial accountability, compliance, planning, and oversight to the assigned Government Accounts team. This position is directly responsible for establishing and achieving Revenue and Margin goals for Cooperative Purchasing and other solutions.

This position will primarily support the East Coast region.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage an account team for a assigned region.
  • Use personal expertise to identify the complex solutions that meet the agency's needs. Present these to the agency with a clear rationale and explanation of the solution alignment with the agency's objectives.
  • Develop and implement relationship management plans for complex existing agency accounts to identify and build relationships with relevant decision-makers and influencers within the agency and to enable effective two-way flow of information and resolution of issues. Manage ongoing relationships with identified agency segments to ensure their needs are met.
  • Ensure quality service and growth by managing a portfolio of complex agency relationships and/or mentor a small team of account representatives/executives.
  • Enter client information that has been gathered through research and/or through direct agency contact into the CRM system, to ensure that the organization has quality data to enable effective retention and organization development activities.
  • Work within the existing development framework to build own capabilities and those of direct reports. Provide specialized training or coaching to others throughout the organization in area of expertise.
  • Communicate the local action plan; explain how this relates to the function's strategy and action plan and to the broader organization's mission and vision; motivate people to achieve local business goals.
  • Develop and propose own performance objectives; take appropriate actions to ensure achievement of agreed objectives, using the organization's performance management systems to improve personal performance. Or manage and report on team performance; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports or project/account team members and hold people accountable for achieving them, taking appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of team/personal objectives.
  • Help develop procedures for an area of the organization and monitor their implementation.
  • Contribute to the formation of one or more elements of functional strategy through specialist expertise and insights, to ensure that the strategy meets business needs.
  • Use the organization's formal development framework to identify the team's individual development needs. Plan and implement actions to build their capabilities. Provide training or coaching to others throughout the organization in own area of expertise to enable others to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.
  • Deliver a budget for an area of the organization or conduct complex analyses on budget progress in other areas of the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in a related field, OR a combination of post-secondary training, professional education, and related experience equivalent to four (4) years.

Experience

General Experience

Eight (8) years of demonstrated experience in district-level K 612 business administration/operational leadership experience involving budgeting, procurement, or vendor management, or other directly related experience; of which the total years of experience include:

  • Experience working with or within district-level K 612 business administration/operational leadership experience involving budgeting, procurement, or vendor management

  • Experience in sales, business development, or strategic account management focused on K12 district clients.

  • Managerial experience.

Managerial Experience

Experience of planning and managing resources to deliver predetermined objectives as specified by more senior managers (Over 3 years to 6 years)

Location:

  • This is a remote position, and is subject to Sourcewell's telecommuting policies and procedures.

  • Must be able to meet travel requirements for this position, which is approximately five (5) times per year including occasional travel to Staples, MN for meetings, professional development or team activities. Notice will be given ahead of time.
