Job Summary

The Associate/Director, Philanthropic Relations plays an integral role in strengthening the Mass Eye and Ear and Mass General Brigham philanthropic program. Working in close collaboration with colleagues, physicians and other faculty, the Associate/Director is an individual contributor responsible for the strategic identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospects and donors for assigned fundraising areas.

The Associate/Director will manage a portfolio of prospects and donors and meet annual fundraising and performance metrics as established by the department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Build and actively manage a portfolio of prospects and donors
• Meet annual fundraising targets from new and existing donors. Fundraising and performance metrics are reestablished annually.
• Conduct donor meetings and prospect qualifications annually through both proactive and reactive donor identification and engagement.
• Successfully solicit gifts, working with other faculty, volunteers, and administrative staff as appropriate.
• Formulate, document and execute prospect and donor moves management strategies.
• Fully document work in the donor database, Blackbaud CRM.
• Work with prospects to develop and enhance the relationship to and connection with Mass Eye and Ear and Mass General Brigham, ultimately leveraging that relationship to maximize philanthropic giving.
• Collaborate with colleagues across fundraising teams to achieve team and overall Development Office fundraising goals.
• Create, maintain and strengthen collaborative relationships with hospital and institutional partners, meeting with them regularly to encourage and support their engagement in philanthropic efforts, and provide progress updates.
• Develop an understanding of the research, clinical, teaching and community missions at Mass Eye and Ear and Mass General Brigham, and of all giving opportunities (including planned gifts and unrestricted), and cross-team disciplines, and collaborate with colleagues across the department to produce case statements and proposals.


Qualifications

Bachelors degree and 8-10 years of fundraising or related experience required (Director) OR Bachelors degree required and 5-7 years of related experience required (Associate Director). In addition, the ideal candidate will possess the following skills, abilities and competencies:

  • Experience devising and implementing cultivation and solicitation strategies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, strong work ethic and strategic thinking skills
  • Proficiency in data entry, data management and reporting
  • Ability to motivate, engage, influence and work collaboratively with diverse internal and external audiences in a variety of situations
  • Entrepreneurial, conscientious and results-oriented work style, with motivation to learn and display flexibility in a changing environment
  • Experience with Blackbaud CRM (or Raisers Edge), Microsoft Office Suite, and video conferencing platforms (Zoom and Teams) preferred

This position may be filled at either the Associate Director or Director level, depending on the selected candidates qualifications, experience, and demonstrated skills.

The target salary range for this position is:

  • Associate Director: $90,000 6,000/Annual
  • Director: $110,000 140,000/Annual

Final offers will be determined based on the candidates experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
