About the Opportunity

UJA Federation of Greater Toronto is seeking an Associate Director, Donor & Impact Communications to lead the planning, writing, and editorial direction of donor-facing impact communications.

This role is responsible for developing communications that help donors understand what UJA is funding, what has been accomplished, who is being supported, and why the work matters. The Associate Director will lead content development for monthly impact communications, annual and impact reporting, transformational campaign materials, stewardship narratives, donor stories, program summaries, and approved donor-impact language used across the organization.

This is a senior, hands-on content role. It requires strong writing, sound editorial judgment, comfort working with complex information, and the ability to turn program activity, campaign priorities, and impact data into clear donor-facing communications.

The Associate Director will manage and provide editorial direction to senior writers supporting donor, stewardship, and proposal-related communications.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Lead the planning, writing, editing, and quality control of donor-facing impact communications.
  • Translate program work, campaign priorities, fundraising information, stewardship needs, and impact data into clear donor language.
  • Lead content development for monthly impact communications, annual and impact reporting, transformational campaign reports, stewardship updates, donor stories, profiles, and program summaries.
  • Strengthen the connection between stewardship reporting, monthly impact communications, campaign priorities, and UJA's broader communications calendar.
  • Work with fundraising, stewardship, program, marketing, design, digital, social, and communications teams to gather information, clarify details, identify stories, shape content, and adapt it for different channels.
  • Build strong relationships across UJA to support accurate, timely, and useful donor-impact communications.
  • Maintain and contribute approved donor-impact language for use across fundraising, communications, marketing, leadership, and stewardship.
  • Manage, assign, review, edit, and support the work of senior writers producing donor, stewardship, and proposal-related communications.
  • Provide clear editorial feedback so writers understand the purpose, audience, tone, structure, and quality standard for the work.
  • Work with designers and creative partners to ensure reports, presentations, donor-facing materials, web content, and digital products are accurate, well structured, and visually strong.

Qualifications:
  • Strong donor-facing writing and editing ability.
  • 5 years of experience with impact reporting, annual reports, stewardship communications, fundraising communications, campaign communications, or mission-driven storytelling.
  • Strong editorial judgment and the ability to distinguish between information and story.
  • Ability to translate program, campaign, fundraising, stewardship, and impact information into clear donor language.
  • 4+ years of experience developing content for digital channels, including email, web, social media, digital reports, or other audience-facing platforms.
  • Experience managing or directing writers and giving specific editorial feedback.
  • Experience working with designers or creative teams to develop reports, presentations, or visual storytelling products.
  • Strong judgment about tone, audience, accuracy, sensitivity, and donor expectations.
  • Comfort working with fundraising, stewardship, program, marketing, leadership, and communications teams.
  • Ability to balance team leadership with hands-on writing, editing, and production.
  • Knowledge of or strong interest in the Jewish community and philanthropic landscape is an asset.

* This is a full-time permanent position. Salary Range: $89,000-$99,000 annually, based on experience. At UJA we support a flexible work schedule and all of our employees engage in hybrid work. Engagement and connection are key to supporting the best employee experience and we want to ensure that this puts balance and well-being at the forefront of our approach to ways of working. In addition to a rich time off policy, UJA's offices are closed on all Jewish holy days (yom tov) and we support early office closures to observe the Jewish Sabbath (Shabbat).

We look forward to connecting with you to understanding what you can bring to the UJA team and how we can support your career goals. Qualified applicants are invited to submit a cover letter and resume. Only those applicants invited for interview will be contacted.
