The Denver District Attorney’s Office has immediate openings for the position of Deputy District Attorney. We offer competitive salaries that reflect relevant work history.

  • Senior Deputy District Attorney – $169,873 – $180,324. Will have at least 10 years’ relevant experience
  • Associate Deputy District Attorney – $119,763 – $136,069.  Must have at least 5 years’ relevant experience
  • Deputy District Attorney – $95,585 – $104,615.  Entry Level up to 5 years’ relevant experience

Location & Schedule

This position reports on site from 8:00AM to 5:00PM at the Republic Plaza building located at 370 17th St suite 5300 Denver, CO 80202.

What You'll Do

A DDA effectively manages a caseload, prepares for hearings and trials, partners with community agencies, the Denver Police Department, and other criminal justice agencies to successfully serve survivors and build criminal cases, assists victims of crime and their families through the criminal justice system, and performs other duties as assigned or requested by the District Attorney. We are currently hiring for our District Court and Domestic Violence Unit.

As the Associate Deputy District Attorney you will:

Domestic Violence Unit

  • Manage a Domestic Violence docket within the Domestic Violence Unit and meeting with survivors and family members
  • Assist victims of domestic violence and their families through the criminal justice system
  • Appear in court on assigned docket days, partnering with community agencies, the Denver Police Department, and other criminal justice agencies to successfully serve survivors and build criminal cases
  • Partner with other deputies on cases
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested by the District Attorney

District Court Unit

  • Represent the People of the State of Colorado in trial and appellate matters
  • Provide legal counsel to law enforcement agencies within the Second Judicial District
  • Participate in a range of multi-agency task forces and committees with law enforcement and other community partner professionals.
  • Maintain a misdemeanor or felony caseload, including making appropriate plea offers, litigating motions and preparing cases for trial
  • Partner with other deputies on cases
  • Partner with members of Denver Police Department and other community agencies
  • Assist victims of crime through the criminal justice system
  • Periodically serving on call to provide legal advice to Denver Police Department’s homicide unit
  • Apply sound legal practice and judgment to ensure accurate and sufficient case documentations is preformed
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested by the District Attorney

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of experience as an attorney at law.
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: No substitution of experience for education is permitted.
  • License/Certifications: Possession of a license to practice law in Colorado from the Colorado Supreme Court by the date of hire or a reasonable expectation of becoming licensed by the Colorado Supreme Court by the date of hire in accordance with C.R.C.P. 203.2, 203.3, 203.4 and 205.6. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
