Full Job Description
The Associate Dean of Nursing is responsible for academic leadership, administration, faculty oversight, operational management, regulatory compliance, and successful delivery of nursing education programs at the campus level. The Associate Dean of Nursing provides direct supervision and evaluation of nursing faculty while overseeing all aspects of nursing program implementation, curriculum delivery, student progression, accreditation compliance, clinical coordination, faculty development, and program outcomes.

The Associate Dean of Nursing serves as the primary nursing academic leader on campus and works collaboratively with university administration and College of Nursing leadership to ensure program quality, consistency, regulatory compliance, and achievement of student and program outcomes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Academic Leadership and Program Administration
  • Oversee day-to-day nursing program operations
  • Coordinate didactic, laboratory, simulation, and clinical course delivery
  • Monitor program effectiveness and implementation consistency
  • Maintain compliance with curriculum standards and master syllabi
  • Oversee course scheduling and faculty assignments
  • Coordinate simulation integration and laboratory utilization
  • Oversee testing processes, exam security, and assessment practices
  • Monitor student progression, retention, completion, and NCLEX outcomes
  • Conduct student orientation and programmatic meetings
  • Lead program improvement initiatives and corrective action plans when needed
  • Participate in budget planning, resource allocation, and equipment requests
  • Participate in strategic planning and program development
  • Maintain systematic evaluation plans and program outcome tracking
  • Prepare and maintain accreditation and regulatory documentation
  • Maintain current knowledge of the professional discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development
  • Work collaboratively with nursing leadership to ensure consistency of curriculum delivery across campuses


Faculty Supervision and Academic Oversight
  • Directly supervise nursing faculty and assigned staff
  • Conduct faculty onboarding, orientation, and mentoring
  • Conduct classroom, laboratory, simulation, and clinical observations
  • Review Blackboard course organization and instructional quality
  • Monitor faculty engagement, communication, grading, and course management
  • Conduct annual faculty performance evaluations
  • Develop and monitor faculty enhancement or improvement plans
  • Review faculty workload assignments and staffing needs
  • Monitor faculty compliance with institutional and nursing policies and procedures
  • Support faculty professional development and scholarship activities
  • Review faculty lesson plans, assessment strategies, and examination practices
  • Ensure consistency of curriculum delivery across faculty members
  • Monitor faculty participation in committee work and governance
  • Assist with faculty recruitment, credential review, interview processes, and onboarding
  • Conduct departmental faculty meetings and maintain meeting documentation


Student Oversight and Support
  • Monitor student academic progression, retention, and completion
  • Review student concerns, complaints, and special circumstances
  • Coordinate remediation, repeat, reentry, and leave of absence processes
  • Support ADA accommodations and testing arrangements
  • Monitor attendance, grading, and academic compliance
  • Participate in admissions processes, interviews, and student selection activities
  • Support student engagement and student governance activities
  • Monitor student satisfaction and program outcome data
  • Oversee graduation clearance and Board submission processes


Accreditation, Regulatory, and Compliance Responsibilities
  • Maintain compliance with Florida Board of Nursing, ACEN, CCNE, SACSCOC, and University requirements
  • Maintain program outcome and assessment data
  • Prepare annual reports and accreditation documentation
  • Participate in accreditation self-study preparation and site visits
  • Maintain curriculum maps, outcome tracking, and evaluation plans
  • Monitor faculty and program compliance with nursing regulatory requirements
  • Maintain accurate student and faculty records
  • Ensure timely submission of graduate and regulatory reports


Clinical and Community Partnerships
  • Oversee clinical placements and utilization
  • Develop and maintain clinical partnerships and affiliations
  • Participate in advisory board activities
  • Evaluate clinical learning environments and clinical education effectiveness
  • Coordinate with healthcare partners and community stakeholders
  • Participate in recruitment, outreach, and community engagement activities
  • Collaborate with admissions and student services departments

  • Master's degree in nursing, Doctoral degree in Nursing is preferred.

  • Full time teaching experience, minimum 2 years preferred
