The Associate Corridor Medical Lead (ACML) - Community, Rural and Continuing Care is a key leadership position within Alberta Health Services- Calgary Corridor. The ACML provides support and assistance to the Corridor Medical Lead, Calgary in the execution of his/her duties and in accordance with the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws. The ACML has a focus on Community, Rural and Continuing Care within Medical Affairs while actively engaged in the overall administration of Calgary Corridor Medical Affairs, providing input, direction, support and feedback to Calgary Corridor Medical leaders.

The Associate Corridor Medical Lead works closely with administrative leads for Community, Rural & Continuing Care for the Calgary Corridor. The Associate Corridor Medical Lead and administrative leads jointly establish the plan for the effective and efficient implementation, operationalization, management, and monitoring of provincially integrated clinical care initiatives and services; as well as quality improvement and measurement programs.

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Provide medical administrative leadership for the Community, Rural and Continuing Care programs. The Associate Corridor Medical Lead will work collaboratively with the administrative leads on issues related to resource allocation within the portfolio including development of and management of budgets consistent with the health care priorities as established by AHS.
2. Provide leadership for Community, Rural and Continuing Care, and other programs as assigned. The Associate Corridor Medical Lead will work collaboratively with the Medical and Administrative leads on issues related to:
   1. Resource allocation for the departments including development of and management of budgets for the department that are consistent with the health care priorities as established by AHS.
   2. Periodic reviews and Annual renewals.
   3. Final review and approval of Physician Contracts and Impact Statements.
3. Provide leadership with the Corridor's administration pertaining to the activities of the departments and be actively involved in the decision-making process with regards to resource allocation, service distribution, technology assessment, and patient care related policies and procedures.
4. Liaise with and support the respective Corridor Clinical Department Leads and, where appropriate, the Corridor Clinical Section Leads. The Associate Corridor Medical Lead will work to ensure appropriate medical input from divisional, department, and program leads with regards to operational decisions.
5. Where appropriate, coordinate problem solving of health services delivery issues with operational leads, Site Leads, Section Leads and Corridor Clinical Department Leads. Provide leadership and support to enhance safety, quality, program planning, equipment and capital planning, and patient flow and capacity management.
6. As required, assist in representing the Corridor at appropriate AHS Provincial Committees and venues.
7. In the absence of the Corridor Medical Lead (CML) Calgary, may be delegated to act as the Corridor Medical Lead and fulfil the CML roles and responsibilities.
8. Support and oversee the investigation of complaints made against or disputes between members of the medicalstaff as described in the Medical Staff Bylaws and/or in accordance with applicable AHS and Departmental policies for review and disposition by the Corridor Medical Lead

• Proven leadership, communication, organizational, change management, team building and facilitation skills.
• Expertise in developing and providing resources, consultation, and collaborative support to stakeholder teams.
• Ability to design, tailor, implement and evaluate effective strategies to meet identified priorities.
• Experience in supporting and promoting clinical best practice and experience as a change agent.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, well developed interpersonal skills, ability to cultivate positive relationships and passion for patient safety.
• Alberta Health Services privileges to practice at AHS facilities.
