Responsibilities

  • Act as liaison between nursing staff, physicians, and other departments to resolve conflicts and ensure collaboration.
  • Promote staff education and professional development in partnership with the Clinical Director.

Short Description

Assumes responsibility and accountability for the direction, implementation, and evaluation of patient care services within the assigned unit, under the direction of the Clinical Director. This role supports operational effectiveness, quality outcomes, staff development, and patient- and family-centered care, while exercising independent judgment and leadership in the Clinical Director's absence.

  • Demonstrates Cooper Core Values, Service Standards, Leadership Must Haves, and utilizes AIDET at all times.
  • Assists the Clinical Director in providing leadership, direction, and coordination of patient care services to ensure safe, high-quality, evidence-based care delivery.
  • Oversees day-to-day operational functioning of the assigned unit, including staffing coordination, workflow oversight, and resource utilization.
  • Supports personnel management activities such as interviewing, hiring, orientation, coaching, counseling, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
  • Coordinates interdisciplinary and ancillary services to promote effective communication, patient satisfaction, and continuity of care.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives, regulatory compliance efforts, and implementation of Joint Commission, state, and federal standards.
  • Acts as liaison between nursing staff, physicians, and other departments, facilitating problem-solving, conflict resolution, and collaboration.
  • Promotes staff education, professional development, and competency validation in collaboration with the Clinical Director and Education Department.


Experience Required

Required: Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience and at least 1 year of demonstrated leadership abilities.

Preferred: Progressive leadership experience in acute or specialty care settings

Education Requirements

Graduate from an NLN accredited school of nursing

License/Certification Requirements

Required: Current New Jersey Registered Nurse license and BLS certification

Preferred: National specialty certification (ACLS, PALS, NRP, or equivalent as applicable)
