This is a hybrid role available in Cambridge, MA.

Position Overview

We are seeking an Associate Scientific Director to join the Immunology Discovery group. The successful candidate will shape and execute strategies across established and novel pathways to advance drug discovery programs across the Immunology portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of target identification and validation as well as a track record of successfully leading matrixed teams across the organization or CROs to advance projects. People management experience, including coaching, mentoring and managing people for performance and scientific growth, is important for this position. Demonstrated ability to identify and execute academic collaborations to address impactful and novel immunological questions is highly desired.

Responsibilities:
  • Shape and execute scientific strategies for target identification and validation, drug discovery, combination therapy approaches, and indication expansion activities related to adaptive immunity driven rheumatologic, dermatologic, respiratory, and gastroenterologic diseases.
  • Provide leadership to various pre-clinical drug discovery programs including leading early research programs.
  • Interact with key partners including Discovery leaders, the Immunology TA and partner organizations including Biologics/Small molecule Research and Development groups to delivery clinical candidates.
  • Work closely with colleagues from partner organizations, biomarkers and early development to progress clinical candidates into early clinical development.
  • Develop and advance relevant platform technologies as needed.
  • Work closely with Discovery leaders to implement an autoimmune disease strategy within the focus area and support ongoing programs.
  • Identify, develop and drive research collaborations with academic groups and external partners.
  • Represent the company at meetings and to potential collaborators.
  • Manage and mentor a scientific team that could span the Discovery hubs.
  • Proven experience leveraging AI technologies to enhance personal productivity and/or department performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn, evaluate, and adopt new AI tools and ways of working to meet evolving business needs.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a Ph.D. degree with post-doctoral experience and at least 8-10 years of industry experience, 3-5 years of experience performing progressively advanced duties at the Senior Scientist/Principal Scientist/Associate Scientific Director level OR the equivalent training/experience is required.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multiple Discovery Programs (small molecule and biologics) across matrixed team is required.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to present and assemble complex data sets and data type is required.
  • Proven ability to interact in a matrix environment.
  • Up to 15% travel is required.

This position is eligible to participate in the Company's long-term incentive program.

Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

  • Vacation -120 hours per calendar year
  • Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado -48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington -56 hours per calendar year
  • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays -13 days per calendar year
  • Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
  • Parental Leave - 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child
  • Bereavement Leave - 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year
  • Caregiver Leave - 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days
  • Volunteer Leave - 32 hours per calendar year
  • Military Spouse Time-Off - 80 hours per calendar year


The anticipated base pay range for this position is: $139,000 - $238,050
