Role SummaryThe Associate Director, Thought Leader Liaison (TLL) is a strategic commercial leader responsible for overseeing the development and execution of engagement strategies with national, regional, and emerging Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in rare neurological diseases. Reporting to the Director of TLLs, Neurology, this role provides strategic oversight for the commercial relationship management of thought leaders and ensures the synthesis of actionable insights to inform brand strategy and launch planning.
Primary ResponsibilitiesThought Leader Strategy & Engagement- Develop and execute comprehensive KOL engagement plans for national, regional, and emerging thought leaders.
- Build long-term, trusted relationships with neurologists, neuromuscular specialists, rehabilitation physicians, genetic specialists, and multidisciplinary care teams.
- Identify influential experts, centers of excellence, advocacy leaders, and investigators who can shape the evolving treatment landscape.
- Maintain an accurate understanding of each thought leader's clinical interests, research activities, influence networks, and educational needs.
Insight Generation- Capture, synthesize, and communicate customer insights that influence brand strategy, messaging, evidence generation, and launch planning.
- Identify emerging trends in diagnosis, treatment patterns, referral pathways, and unmet needs within the rare disease community.
- Translate field insights into strategic recommendations for Commercial Leadership.
Advisory Boards & Expert Consultation- Lead planning and execution of commercial advisory boards.
- Identify and recruit appropriate advisors.
- Partner with Marketing and Medical Affairs to develop compliant objectives and discussion guides.
- Summarize insights and communicate recommendations across cross-functional teams.
Speaker Bureau Leadership- Recruit, develop, and maintain a high-performing physician speaker bureau.
- Coordinate speaker onboarding, training, and ongoing coaching.
- Evaluate speaker effectiveness and provide developmental feedback.
- Partner with vendors to execute high-quality educational programming.
Congress Strategy- Develop strategic engagement plans for major neurology congresses.
- Coordinate thought leader meetings before, during, and after scientific meetings.
- Capture competitive intelligence and customer insights.
- Support executive leadership engagement with key experts.
Launch ExcellenceSupport launch readiness activities by:
- Identifying educational gaps within the healthcare community.
- Assessing evolving market dynamics.
- Informing disease education initiatives.
- Helping shape peer-to-peer educational strategies.
- Supporting customer segmentation and influence mapping.
Job DescriptionCandidate ProfileEducation and Required Skills- Proven success in strategic thinking and building executive-level relationship frameworks
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA, PharmD, PhD, MSN, MS) preferred
- Minimum 7 years of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industry experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years in one or more of the following: Thought Leader Liaison, Product Marketing, Specialty Sales, Medical Affairs leadership, Commercial field leadership
- Demonstrated experience in rare disease, specialty pharmaceuticals, or neurology
- Strong understanding of commercial compliance and promotional regulations
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
Travel and Location- Ability to travel (approximately 60-70%) to attend congresses and engage with key stakeholders
- This is a remote role. Occasional presence (1-2 times/quarter) in the Boston office required for workshops, key strategy meetings, etc.
This role covers the southeast region of the United States, including Kentucky, Ohio, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Indiana, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida The candidate must live in one of these states.Salary RangeThe salary range for this role is $190-$225k. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. Employees in this position are also eligible for Short-Term and Long-Term incentive programs.
