Advertised Job Summary

The Associate Dean for Organizational Climate and Well-Being is a senior leader within the medical school responsible for advancing a thriving, inclusive, and high-performing academic community. This role provides strategic leadership for initiatives that strengthen institutional culture, workforce engagement, accessibility, and professional fulfillment across the medical school.

Serving concurrently as Executive Director for Institutional Climate and Culture, the Associate Dean provides counsel on organizational dynamics affecting faculty, staff, and learners, and guides efforts that promote a positive organizational culture, belonging, and excellence across the institution.

The Associate Dean for Organizational Climate and Well-Being and oversees strategic initiatives aligned with the office's core pillars: Institutional Climate and Culture; Compliance, Accessibility, & Organizational Fairness; Well-Being; Engagement; and Leadership, Team, and Professional Development and Training. Working collaboratively with departments, programs, and institutional partners, the Assistant Dean helps ensure that the medical school fosters an environment where all members of the community can thrive and contribute fully to the missions of education, research, clinical care, and service.

Required Education and Experience
  • Master's degree in education, public administration, or related field and 6 years related experience in higher education and related programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in academic medicine, healthcare organizations, higher
    education, or related environments.
  • Experience contributing to initiatives related to organizational culture, well-being,
    workforce engagement, inclusive excellence, and/or leadership development.
  • Strong strategic thinking, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders across faculty, staff, and trainee
    communities.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in navigating complex and sensitive situations prioritizing
    confidentiality.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive experience working in a school of medicine pursuing relevant topics.
  • Relevant leadership experience and ability to develop and mentor team members
  • Extensive graduate level preparation having obtained a terminal/professional degree in
    a relevant field (i.e. PhD, JD, MD, etc.).
  • Experience leading institutional culture change initiatives or complex organizational
    improvement efforts.
  • Experience using climate or engagement data to guide strategy and program
    development.
  • Evidence of scholarship, innovation, or program leadership related to well-being,
    organizational effectiveness, and/or inclusive excellence.
