Job Description

Assistant Vice President, Structural Engineer to join the structural engineering practice within our Architectural Engineering (A/E) business based in Portland, Maine. The team is open to any of our Maine offices, with one weekly visit to Portland.

The ideal candidate will be energetic, have excellent communication skills, and well-rounded technical structural engineering experience. They will also have strong leadership and mentorship skills with a demonstrated track record of leading structural designs as Structural Engineer of Record on multi-disciplinary projects.

Your Impact
• Communicate with clients to understand project requirements.
• Lead a team of engineers and designers on structural engineering and design activities through engineering concept to construction documents for multidiscipline design projects.
• Analyze new and existing structures per required code.
• Develop calculation packages as required.
• Perform existing structures assessment to evaluate their capacity and ability to resist new loading requirements; produce technical reports with technically sound recommendations.
• Develop structural models to solve engineering problems based on sound engineering principles.
• Be a key contributor to new business development and growth of WSP's A/E delivery team
• Coach and mentor Junior Engineers and Designers
• Work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
• Adhere to our project delivery standards, including self-checking work prior to quality control reviews, to ensure high quality of work is consistently delivered.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer registration.
• US Citizen
• 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of structural analysis software such as STAAD PRO, ETABS, RISA and willingness and ability to learn new analysis software.
• Demonstrated experience of delivering a range of projects from concept through detailed design and construction completion
• Expertise in developing construction drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge through experience in developing level-of-effort estimate and client proposals.
• Be able to present and describe engineering solutions and concept competently to both technical and non-technical audience.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or REVIT.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
• Licensed Structural Engineer in the U.S.
• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a related field
• Civilian Federal Agency and DoD project experience

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $119,100 - $180,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
