Role Description:
As AVP, Competitive Intelligence & Corporate Development, you will serve as a strategic advisor to Executive leadership, helping shape Safety National's long-term business strategy through actionable market and competitive intelligence. You will be the organization's primary resource for understanding competitors, reinsurers, emerging industry trends, potential acquisition targets, and new product opportunities. Your insights will help identify opportunities for profitable growth and strengthen Safety National's position in the market.
In this role, you will lead and evolve the competitive intelligence program, analyzing financial, regulatory, and market data to assess competitor performance, strategic positioning, emerging opportunities, and potential risks. You will transform complex information into executive-ready reports, presentations, market sizing, business cases, and recommendations that support strategic planning and capital allocation.
You will also identify, evaluate, and advance strategic growth opportunities across acquisitions, partnerships, investments, and new products or markets. This includes conducting strategic evaluations, fit assessments, valuation analyses, and preliminary due diligence for potential transactions and partnerships. Working across the organization with Underwriting, Finance, Insurance Compliance, and Executive leadership-as well as with bankers, consultants, and other external industry advisors-you will build relationships, monitor market developments, and help translate intelligence into meaningful business opportunities.
Qualifications:
Education:
- A bachelor's degree in finance, Economics, Business, Accounting, Insurance, Strategy, or a related field is required.
- MBA or other advanced degree
Required Qualifications:
- 5 or more years of experience in competitive intelligence, corporate strategy, mergers & acquisitions, investment banking, private equity, management consulting, corporate development, or a related analytical field
- Experience evaluating acquisition targets, strategic partnerships, investments, or other corporate development opportunities
- Experience analyzing financial statements, company performance, valuation, and strategic positioning
- Experience preparing executive-level analyses and recommendations that support strategic business decisions
- Strong financial analysis, valuation, and business modeling capabilities
- Ability to synthesize large volumes of information into concise, actionable insights
- Experience utilizing market intelligence platforms, public filings, industry research, and financial databases
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and business intelligence or analytical tools
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex analyses to executive audiences
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to influence decision-making across departments and organizational levels
- Proven ability to build relationships with external advisors and industry professionals
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
- This position allows for a hybrid work schedule which includes a minimum of 3 days per week in our St. Louis Corporate Office, located at 1832 Schuetz Rd. Saint Louis, MO. All employees are required to submit work from home requests and follow our Work From Home policy, which will be provided to all candidates selected to interview.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in public accounting or a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
- Insurance, reinsurance, financial services, or specialty risk management industry experience, including familiarity with carriers, MGAs, TPAs, brokers, reinsurers, or related organizations
- Strong understanding of insurance industry economics, distribution models, and competitive dynamics

In our vision to be First with Co-Workers, compensation is only one piece of the comprehensive total rewards package we offer. The target base salary range for this position is $149,000 to $200,500. Compensation for the successful candidate will consider the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, experience and geographic location.
