JOB DESCRIPTION
The Assistant Program Director will need to possess good written and oral English communication skills; ability to work as a member of a team, to maintain appropriate boundaries while working in close inter-personal relationships; ability to learn and apply principles of social rehabilitation. The incumbent should have knowledge of community resources desirable; have strong organizational skills, adaptability, be empathic and relate effectively with clients, other staff, professionals and members of the community.
COMPENSATION
$36.16 - $50.65 per hour. Nonexempt; 40 hours/week; Eligible for overtime. Compensation based on education and experience.
REPORTS TO
Program Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
BA and two years' experience working with adults with serious mental illness or with substance abuse problems in a social rehabilitation program or experience in a related field.
Excellent English oral and written communication skills; strong clinical skills, and ability to work with a culturally diverse team; knowledge of community resources.
Drivers license for at least two years and driving record acceptable to insurance carrier.
Valid California driver's license; auto in safe operating condition; auto liability insurance; good driving record; criminal record clearance; proof of authorization to work in the United States as required by Immigration and Reform Act of 1986. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supervise program in absence of Program Director, including facilitation of staff meetings, participation in steering committee meetings, and supervision of staff, when required.
• Participate in selection and orientation of new Community Housing staff members and provide on-going support and supervision to Community Housing team.
• Provide back-up crisis support and emergency coverage for Community Housing Counselor II staff members (on-call as per an assigned schedule).
• Supervise day to day operation of Sunflower Gardens which includes mental health services and overall property safety (i.e., report needed repairs, collaborate with housing staff as needed). Provide creative input and direction, including; Holiday dinners, support and mental health groups. Assists in hiring and training of Sunflower staff and oversight of Community Support Worker, janitor, administrative assistant and Counselor II to ensure confidentiality values and principles of social rehabilitation and Recovery.
• Maintain and compile Medi-Cal statistical data as well as supervises compilation Sunflower Gardens statistics.
• Provide case management and mental health services under caseload as assigned.
• Provide treatment planning, assessments and record keeping according to Medi-Cal standards.
• Serve as a role model for positive employee relations, professional functioning, and for adherence to the principles of social rehabilitation.
• Liaison and coordination with County Behavioral Health system and other private and public social services including: local homeless organizations, mental health agencies and other Interim programs.
• Conduct effective public relations activities as assigned including but not limited to networking, attending meetings, providing program presentations.
• Meet regularly with each resident individually and conduct weekly/monthly house/tenant meetings.
• Supervise, assist and train counselors in providing Medi-Cal case management duties
• Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to: operate a motor vehicle; climb stairs; possess good communication skills; meet the requirements of the classification and have mobility, vision, hearing and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties to be performed. Capable of the following extended activities: walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs. Capable of the following intermittent activities: stooping, kneeling, lifting 25 pounds or more and bending in the performance of infrequently performed office duties.
