Full Job Description
Department Overview

The Assistant Professor is a faculty member credentialed and privileged as an MD, with completion of an Ob/Gyn residency, and may have independent surgical experience necessary to provide a full-scope practice. As a member of the OHSU Professional Staff, the Assistant Professor practices in accordance with the relevant bylaws. The Assistant Professor is responsible for providing inpatient and outpatient clinical services as assigned by the supervisor, in support of the university's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach, and public service. Compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, OHSU policies, and professional standards is required.

Function/Duties of Position

Clinical
  • The Generalist division provides both inpatient and outpatient care to high-risk patients at OHSU and relatively low-risk, community practice patients at Hillsboro Medical Center, an affiliated facility located 30 minutes west of OHSU, ensuring an ideal patient mix. While all faculty are required to maintain privileges at both sites, Generalists will primarily be assigned to one location. Each member is responsible for a fair share of obstetrics and gynecology call duties, some of which require on-site presence.

Scholarly
  • Like all OHSU faculty members, Assistant Professors are expected to engage in some scholarly activity. This may include teaching as outlined below, as well as research, grant-supported work, or academic presentations and publications in areas related to their expertise.

Education
  • This position involves providing clinical education to residents and medical students during their Obstetrics and Gynecology rotations. The Assistant Professor may also assist with the clinical training of nurse and APP trainees. As part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for educating learners in the outpatient clinic environment, the Assistant Professor will provide both formal and informal feedback and evaluation to learners working in obstetrics and gynecology.

Administrative
  • As an OHSU faculty member, the Assistant Professor will participate in division and department faculty meetings and serve on OHSU committees as required. Additionally, involvement in other activities supporting the goals and objectives of the division, department, or OHSU may be requested by the department chair or division head.
