Position Purpose:
The School of Nursing at Aurora University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Nursing for an entire academic year. The candidate will provide high quality instruction to both undergraduate and pre-licensure, direct-entry graduate nursing students in the classroom, clinical, laboratory, and online. The candidate will possess experience and knowledge in nursing education 'best practices' and will hold an unencumbered RN license in the State of Illinois. This position is a 9-month academic appointment paid over a 12 month period.

Essential Job Functions:

The successful candidate will teach courses within the School of Nursing. The successful candidate will also work well in a highly collaborative departmental environment and provide service to the school and the university. The faculty appointment will be assigned to teach 24 semester hours for the academic year and will have opportunities for service and professional growth and development.
Essential Job Requirements:

Required:
  • Must have an earned MSN degree from an accredited graduate nursing program
  • Possess an unencumbered RN license from the State of Illinois
  • An earned doctorate (DNP, EdD, PhD), Advanced Practice licensure, and CNE certification is preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of prior nursing teaching experience with a faculty rank (classroom, clinical, simulation laboratory, and online) in one or more of the following specialty areas: fundamentals, medical/surgical, critical care, and community.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CCNE Accreditation, AACN Essential Competencies, and NCLEX-RN requirements preferred.

Skills:

  • Current demonstrated teaching effectiveness in nursing education.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a positive, nurturing, inclusive and diverse working and learning environment.
  • Established effective written, oral communication, and/or presentation skills.
  • Has a commitment to lifelong learning.
  • Successful experience mentoring undergraduate and graduate nursing students.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to interact in individuals, either in person or via technology.
  • Ability to be physically present in class and during office hours.
  • Ability to stand next to and lift laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to demonstrate physical activities.


The pay range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted amount the university reasonably expects to pay for this position. The final pay rate will not be below the lowest pay rate listed herein.
