Description
JOB GOAL: To assist the Principal in carrying out curricular, supervisory, administrative and organizational responsibilities.

Essential and Marginal Functions
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Establish and maintain an effective learning climate in the school.
  2. Assume responsibility for a safe and orderly school and physical plant.
  3. Assist in management and preparation of the school budget.
  4. Prepare or supervise creation of reports, records, lists, and other documents appropriate to school administration.
  5. Ensure accurate records of student attendance, conduct and health.
  6. Develop and implement Master Schedule.
  7. Implement and observe all board policies.
  8. Attend meetings called by principals.
  9. Chair meetings as needed to support school functions and programs.
  10. Provide on-going staff development. This includes securing presenters and/or making presentations.
  11. Monitor fiscal matters including spending and purchasing.
  12. Assume responsibility for the building when the principal is absent.
  13. Ensure an effective guidance program that supports learning and graduation.
  14. Assist in the evaluation and revision of curriculum and programs.
  15. Attend special events held to recognize student achievement and attend school sponsored activities, functions, and events.
  16. Assist in recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning, and evaluating faculty and staff.
  17. Evaluate staff regarding individual performance. This includes doing observations, writing observations, and holding conferences.
  18. Supervise professional, service, and administrative staff assigned to the building.
  19. Delegate authority to responsible personnel.
  20. Direct and coordinate teacher substitutes and student teachers.
  21. Maintain high standards of student conduct.
  22. Enforce discipline as necessary, according due process to the rights of students within the framework of the District's guidelines on student discipline.
  23. Establish and maintain relationships with local community groups and individuals.
  24. Develop strategies to reach out to parent and community members.
  25. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
  26. Collect data from benchmark and summative data to utilize in building wide decision making and instructional conversations.
  27. Other qualifications to the above that the Board may find acceptable and appropriate.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Coordinate and work closely with the principal and the district administration.
    1. Interpretation of School Board policy
    2. Development and implementation of Strategic Planning
    3. Budget items
  2. Cooperate with the Principal and the District Administration regarding instruction and supervision of professional staff.
  3. Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
  4. Assist the Principal in developing school plans to address technology-related access and equity issues.
  5. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Administrative I (Secondary) Certificate
  2. Master's Degree
  3. Three years experience (education)
  4. Educational technology skills
  5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
  6. Other qualifications to the above that the Board may find acceptable and appropriate.

Supplemental Information
REPORTS TO: Principal
SUPERVISES: Staff members designated by the Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full year. Salary to be established by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance is evaluated in accordance with the Compensation and Performance Evaluation Plan for School and District Leaders.
